My issue also persists after updating to the latest iTunes.  This is a serious bug.

Same problem here, it's been happening for months. A new wrinkle has emerged in the past few days, in that iTunes insists my password is wrong (even after resetting, it still won't let me log in.) I will address that in another post, though.

But, yes, it's been asking me to log in every time I launch iTunes. If I am able to log in successfully, it nevertheless asks me again next time.

I am running it on a Win 7 64 bit system, along with an iPad.

The "helpful answer" did not work for me. When I am signed out at least I dont get the annoying pop up anymore. After I sign back in though and close and reopen iTunes the annoying "Sign in to use this computer for automatic downloads" pop up returns.

So I need to sign out each time to avoid the headache now... I hope there will be a better fix soon.

I just got a new windows 7 (64-bit) laptop and downloaded itunes 10.5.2.11 and am getting this problem on the new laptop... the funny thing is i have another older windows 7 (64-bit) laptop that i just upgraded to itunes 10.5.2.11 and it doesn't have this problem.

Try setting browsing to find a " remember me " style option that allows you to stay signed in without the annoying pop-up.  Hope this helps,

Even after signing in and selecting remember me, the popup window still appears twice everytime. once when iTunes loads, and once when my iPhone is recognized for WiFi sync.

    someone suggested this:

start iTunes by right-click, and "Run as administrator", then enter your password when it asks, close iTunes, start it again (normally, as usual, this time), and you should not be prompted. (win 7, 64 bit)

but it did not work for me, but maybe others will have some luck, although I accidentally opened iTunes normally the first time, and then closed it before reopening it as administrator. Maybe that was why. It did however only prompt me once, and not twice when it was opened as administrator, so maybe this has something to do with iTunes not have the right permissions or something like that.  I am going to try this again tonight.

None of these suggestions pertain to those who don't want to sign in at all, ever.

It worked for me - on Windows 7, 64 bit. I hope it keeps on working!

Amazing! Worked for me, too. Win 7, 64 bit.

Joy R and BigGrayGolem, can you please describe exactly what you did, as I tried starting in administrator mode, I am only prompted once instead of the normal 2 times, but then upon retstarting itunes, I am prompted the usual 2 times.  I still have the automatic downloads settings turned off in settings,  maybe that is the issue?

    Sure.

First of all, I am running iTunes 10.5.2.11 on a Windows 7 Professional 64 bit system. That may be important ... don't know.

I noticed that with the update to this verson of iTunes, it stopped asking me twice for the login. So you may first want to be sure you update iTunes to 10.5.2.11.

Second, be sure iTunes isn't running at all. That's important. Then start in administrator mode and you SHOULD only get one request for a login. Again, this seemed to be fixed with the latest version as of a week ago or so. If you still get two login requests, enter both of them. Be sure iTunes is fully started ... I remember I tested it by playing a track for 10 seconds or so. Then shut it down and make sure it's fully closed out. (You may want to use Task Manager just to make sure, but itunes tends not to stay resident if you close it.)

Then fire it back up and it should be fine.

I had automatic downloads set to ON and this worked fine.

I too am on 10.5.2.11 but am on windows 7 Home Edition, SP1 64 bit.

Even with 10.5.2.11 I still get prompted twice to sign in for automatic downloads.

This time, I started iTunes nomrally, turned on automatic downloads in settings, and checked "automatically check for downloads".  Then I closed iTunes, checked the task manager to make sure it wasnt running, other apple services were however, and then launched iTunes in administrator mode, got prompted once, signed in. I then signed out, closed iTunes, checked the task manager again, and then reluanched iTunes normally, to once again be prompted twice.

This is my third attempt, and this hasn't worked for me, but also, I do not want to have automatic downloads enabled, and I guess I'd rather have the 2 prompts than have automatic downloads enabled, but I'd love to not be prompted AND not have the automatic downloads.

I also have noticed that if I am not signed into my apple account, I do not get prompted.

I am experiencing the same thing. It's really bothering me. I have disabled automatic downloads, but still every time I open iTunes it asks me to sign in to enable automatic downloads. As someone had said, once when I open the program and another time when I connect my iPhone 4S. If I hit "cancel" another window pops up, and if I click cancel again it goes away. And this is the weird part.... If I type in my password, it tells me I typed it wrong, even though there is no way I could have typed it wrong because it was copied from my clipboard. In any case, this bug is extremely annoying and it is this reason that I took so long to update in the first place. I was very happy with my old iTunes version, but had to update since I got my new iPhone.

it has more users in the discussion with several fix suggestions though none fo which have worked for me

I've exhausted everything from both threads. I've got a Win 7 pro 64bit sp1 laptop with iTunes 10.5.3.3. Safari is not installed, I've never used Last.fm, ping is off, my account has full admin privileges, iTunes has been repaired, then when that failed to work, completely re-installed, this is my only system with iTunes, I have no other authorized computers. If I sign out of the store, then the issue goes away, but comes back as soon as I log back in.

Every time I open iTunes I get prompted for automatic downloads. If I accept, it goes away till next time I open it, if not then it always comes back exactly once more before I can get on with my music. This is getting REALLY annoying, as I've got a long password and listen to a lot of music. Is there anything else left to try (or any other things that seem to cause conflicts) other than switching media players or getting my system re-imaged?
