Jan 1, 2012 10:58 AM in response to SierraDragonby léonie,Hallo Allen,
thanks for joining this discussion. The sluggish behaviour is nicely explained by the 4GB RAM, but what do you make of the crashes? I am still worried because none of the usual culprits - duplicate fonts, video codecs, plug-ins seem to apply. Any ideas? On my iMac I don't see any of this symptoms.
Happy New Year

99% of the time it seems that when RAM adequacy, hard drives underfulledness :), OS versions, app versions and Permissions repair are righteous everything seems to just work.

How easy is it to upgrade your RAM in a Mac? I have done it in a pc many times, but not with my Mac, I expect I will have to pay a premium for it

Go to Crucial or OWC and find the right memory and videos on installation.
Not kidding: if you can use a screwdriver you can replace your memory. Make sure you have the necessary tools (not everyone has -- or needs -- a Torx #6 in their pencil drawer.)

Jan 9, 2012 1:57 PM in response to Frank Caggianoby léonie,Looks like an iMac not a Macbook. Doing memory in an iMac is realy simple, just open the little flap on the bottom of the screen
o.k., that's why I couldn't find any support pages on how to do it on an iMac...
I put the links here because of the general hints - how to hold the memory card without touching the contacts, conect from the power supply and so on. It is very easy to damage the memory card.
