Whew, you don't have anything like PeerGuardian installed?

    More Terminal tricks...

    dscacheutil -flushcache

    host 173.194.33.50

    netstat -rn

As a matter of fact, I do have PeerGuardian installed, but it's not been running.

In my research I found hundreds of cases of PeerGuardian being the sole cause of this exact same symptom. Uninstalling it was the only solution I found at all for this problem.

Is it listed in Sys Pref>Accounts>Login Items?

    Great news Nate, thanks!

I also have this question but instead of installing PeerGuardian I installed Tor. I have uninstalled it, rebooted, and even reinstalled my iStat widget and it still says on my iStat widget Ext: Unknown.
