I get:

iPlayer.jpg

whenever Adobe Air (the application in question) tries to install. This occurs in Lion (7.2) and SnowLeoprd (10.6.8). My new (mid 2011) iMac meets the criteria.

Any ideas please?

And have you contacted the application author?

Have you tried  going to , system preferences, energy saver, and untick  the Automatic graphic switching box.

    and then retry.

Only a thought as unticking that box, enabled me to install Adobe air, and get BBC iPlayer working  with

    Safari and Google Chrome

Thanks for this - it worked for me too!

Should I leave the box unchecked or is it OK to turn it back to how it was - I'm not sure what it does so don't know which option is best!

    Cheers

After using BBC iPlayer I usually go back and tick the box, as it is meant to assist in reduce battery consumption

Thanks for both bits of info.

However after my initial delight at getting the iPlayer to download it's playing up again and I'm beginning to think it'll never work. That said I will probably go to the nearest Apple Store and get them to do it.

Similarly having a problem getting iplayer desktop to run, or to download programmes.  it worked when I first downloaded it in Setember with OSX Lion, but something changed, and it has not worked since October.

I have tried you trick with the graphics switching, but it hasn't helped.

If I try to open the desktop application the icon sits in the bar on the botto of the screen, but nothing more happens.  If I try to download a programme from the iplayer website then the icon opens, but again, othing more.

Did woofsquared get any joy from the Apple shop?  If so i might try my nearest one.

Yes woofsquared did! It took some time because the first person didn't know how to do it and when I got to see someone who did know they couldn't resolve it because a new problem had arisen! However I got yet another appointment with the Genius Bar and both problems were resolved in minutes.

The issue "appeared" to be with the combination of having the right Flash program and not having duplicate files for the app. Although I had uninstalled the app there were some rogue files lurking (they were in the trash and then refused to be removed which is why I had to go to see a true techie) so it was good that I got help cos I reckon that if I had tried to sort it out myself I would have got into more of a state.

    Hope that helps?

Firstly congratultions on getting the problem resolved, and secondly thanks for replying.  I will take my pro to the shop, and get someone to do it for me.
