Jan 12, 2012 8:48 PM in response to mitchelliibby Kappy,No. File Sharing only works when all machines are on the same local network. It is possible to do what you want using VPN or VNC (called Screen Sharing on the Mac.)
In general what you want to do, though possible, has certain security risks unless you use some sort of secured VPN tunneling. Otherwise, you need to use a public IP address which then exposes the computers to all internet users.
Unfortunately, this is out of my area of expertise.

Jan 12, 2012 8:54 PM in response to Kappyby mitchelliib,****. I thought we could of saved our important files to icloud, leaving them accessible to the people allowed to use them. however further investigation has led me to believe that isnt possible.

Jan 12, 2012 8:58 PM in response to mitchelliibby Kappy,No, it isn't possible. iCloud isn't really designed for that. However, there are many other alternatives. One very popular one is Dropbox 1.2.49. Others include Cloud, SugarSync, and Deliver.
