There are lots of very nice graphics app available on the ipad that would greatly benefit from the use of a mouse.

There is a cursor when typing in emails, notes, documents, search bars, address bars, replies to this forum, etc.

That might be, but it doesn't cut the mustard.  What the iPad and also the iPhone are screaming for are arrow keys, all of them (left, right, up and down).  Yeah, I know you can sometimes put the "cursor" in the right spot with your finger, but it is very difficult to do with any regularity.

Mouse support would be great, but I'll settle for arrow keys.

I agree, cursorkeys should be an option at least! And I don't really understand why Apple consequently left them out. Well, perhaps because they remind them too much of Windows and PC's.

Should be easy to implement because in theory, the number of keyboard layouts is unlimited.

I have the blue tooth keyboard that came with my iMac.  I use another keyboard there (full including the numeric's pad).

The BT keyboard syncs with my iPad and of course, the arrow keys work fine with the iPad using the BT keyboard.  That being the case, there is NO reason the virtual keyboard cound not have virtual keys as well.  If there is no space, they could be "shifted" keys.

Come on Apple, give us something where we can go back inside of a document and make/insert corrections without having to repeatedly stab the screen with our fat fingers, hope to put the "cursor" in the right spot.

I might agree that normally speaking one wouldnot need a mouse on an Ipad when on the go.  But there is still a lot of room to use a bluetooth mouse and or any added drive like a DVD drive.  I would buy an Ipad if I could control it remotelyby keyboard and mouse.  I currently usean old clunky PC to watch video on my TV using the HDMI and the web streaming.  Now I can stream to my PC from my Iphone witha HDMI cord but I need to keep getting up when I want to change the volume orrewind a bit or change what I am watching.  Being able to do things remotely is the worldwe live in ever since they invented the remote control.  Why would we think that the need to useremotes will go away?  Adding this basic capabilityto an IPad would help a great deal!  Itis true it would make it less portable but one can always leave the wires andmouse hook ups at home near where they are being used for easy hook up when youreturn home.

Get an AppleTV. With an AppleTV you can stream video wirelessly to your televsion and control everything right from the iPad or iPhone. It's great.

I have thought about that.  Apple TV is cool but it is limited.  If I want to use Hulu for instance I can’t.  I don’t think. Or any other web browsing.

I just discovered that my older Dinovo Edge bluetooth keyboard connects to my Ipad 2 just fine.  It is nice to be able to type quickly with a physical keyboard.  A cursor option controlled by mouse/trackpad would be very nice.  It is a big pain to constantly have to touch the screen to get to a different field to type in.

I use the tab key, just like on my Mac.

Yeah, there's that.  I guess my point is that it would be nice at times to use my Ipad2 at my desk like a traditional computer via a cursor option and not have to touch the Ipad2 at all.  When I am on the couch it is easy to touch a link to get to a webpage or choose a different App with my finger. But when I am sitting at my desk with a wireless keyboard and typing away, I wish I could go to Safari and choose a link with the trackpad through a cursor option, surf around a bit and then go back to my text typing without leaving the keyboard and trackpad/mouse.  It is easy to touch links, etc. when the Ipad2 is held by both hands but when I am typing and reach up to the screen it is harder to land a finger accuratly on the screen and it is also easy to knock the screen askew if I am heavy-handed.

By cursor option, I mean something that I could turn off and on when needed.  I am not suggesting that all or even most apps should or would be able to use this, but it would be nice for business type apps where it is easier for me to sit and only have to touch the keyboard and trackpad/mouse.

Absolutely.  How do we get that done?  You can use a mouse if you Jailbreak but don't want to go through that for a mouse.  All other tablets allow Bluetooth Mice, the best tablet should have  that option...

I agree.  I have Citrix on my ipad for my job and trying to stab at the email or open a folder is excrutiating.  It would be great if a mouse was an option for programs like this, because I need to scroll through windows apps and modify documents via Citrix and a mouse would be a **** of a lot easier rather than zooming in and out of items and dragging folders to places I don't want them to go

According to this post, if you're using Citrix Receiver, you can use an iPod Touch as a trackpad for Citrix Receiver.
