the Alt key next to cmd
There is no "Alt key" on a Mac keyboard.
The ⌥ (Option) key may also bear the label "alt". (If you bother to check, you will see that this label is always in a smaller font size than the other key text labels.) The label "alt" is there to help you when you use non-Mac applications, such as apps which run in terminal emulators or virtual machines. On the Mac, you cannot use the Option key to send commands (as you do with Alt, eg, Alt-F4, on Win).

Jan 13, 2012 11:25 PM in response to fane_jby dkclaus,I guess it is a question of keyboard layout depending on where you live in the world.
On my keyboard it is labeled "Alt" in same size as all the other labels.
But no matter the label.... The option key is next to the cmd key

Jan 26, 2014 7:28 AM in response to fane_jby phyooit,Just plain wrong to say there is no alt key on a mac key board, when plain as day there is a key with the phrase 'alt' writte on it - no matter what it is used for, that justifiably qualifies to be named an 'alt key' for the purposes of this enquiry
