Hi everyone! I been reading all day and i couldnt find someone that its having the same problem as i am.. I tried a lot of the solutions posted and nothing has worked yet.. so here it goes..

I have a MBP 2.8 ghz intel core 2 duo with 8 gb ram with snow leopard and everything was working perfectly! All of a sudden my computer started working slower and slower and i got the " graceful" spinning rainbow all the time not letting me work properly.. For that reason  (after reparing disk and permission, using clean my mac and mackeeper, deleting itunes playlists, etc etc etc) i decided to finally upgrade to lion.

After lion complete install and indexation i thought i would finally have my problem solved but evethough lion woks fine when i start using my mac the funny spinning rainbow starts showing up again and everything slows down and i cannot work anymore.. i guess i might have some kind of conflict somewhere but i just dont know where!! i deleted some apps and tried a lot of the thing posted in this phorum but nothing seems to work.. Im about to do a "clean install" but i dont think thats going to be the answer.. especially when i sync with my time machine back up.. so

how can i find the problem that is causing my mac to slow down? When i run utility disk some permission dont seem to be fixed but i read that that should be the problem

Im hoping some kind souls to help me solve the problem down here!!

Thanks!!

Unfortunately, upgrading a system with issues usually only exacerbates them.

I wouldn't use those utilities on my Mac and they may be cause of some of your issues.

You say you tried a lot of suggestions but not what they were.

You can determine if the problem is systemwide or related just to your User by create a new User and testing. Go to System Preferences > Users & Groups > "+" (make it an admin acct) and test the apps in this new account, if they work the problem is isolated to your User and not systemwide.

Also, how much free space do you have on your disk?

Thanks Macjack! I thought that upgrading was going to be the solution to all my problems but i guess i was wrong!! hahah

I tried reparing disk and permission several times  (since when i veryfy the permission, conflicts keep showing up) , using clean my mac and mackeeper, deleting itunes playlists, deleted some apps (quicksilver, growl ).

Ok so im going to try the new admin user that you suggested and see what happens.. but lets say i do that and everything works fine.. how can i find the problem?  or even worse.. it doesnt work...

I have a 500gb HD with 154 gb free space so i dont think thats the problem.

    No temperature problems either.

Can i import the settings to the new user so i dont have to personalize everything again?

    Thanks!

Ps: sorry about my english :S

Errors in Permisions repair are not problems. As long as Repair Permissions reports, "Permissions have been repaired" at the end of the report, you're good to go.

2 different approaches. Let's just see what happens in the new user, first...

Ok so i created  i new user and use it for a while and everything seems to work fine... As i said my mac works fine until something triggers and it starts working slower.. i guess it has something to do with finder bc sometimes when im using it is when the problems start. One particular example of it is when i open redsnow and when i try to select the ipsw spinning rainbow starts and everything stops working properly...

    Any suggestions?? :S

Try Safe Mode  (It will take more time to startup in Safe Mode because it runs a directory check.)    If your apps function correctly that way, go to System Preferences >> Accounts >> Login Items, and remove them. Boot normally and test.

OK. So i.ve done that and been testing it for a couple of days and everything seems to work fine. I still have the problem with redsnow but i just deleted the app and will download it again when i need it and see what happens..

My startup apps were mail, firefox, thunderbird and cinch. I guess now i have to start setting them up one by one until i find the responsible one right?

    thanks!
