apparently merged cells do not work, nor are available to add, in ipad numbers. Workbooks moved over from the mac lose them I beleive.

if anyone can find a way to do it, please note it here, as I got a message saying they were removed.

This is not good. Merging cells is a basic function that should be available as a feature. I was hoping I was just missing something when I was trying to merge cells in Numbers.

I have reported all of the problems with Numbers to the Apple Numbers team. So far no reply. I hope the reason is that they are all busy fixing this rush to market version....

you will never hear back from them when submitting bugs etc... what you will see is a new feature or bug fix in the enxt update or release.

Unless of course you have the email adress of someone on the iwork team. Then you might see a response I guess.

I just tried this on the latest Numbers and you can merge cells now. Simply select both cells, touch the cells hold down until the usual menu appears (cut/paste etc.). One of the options is "merge".

One of the many things added in an update but not advertised much. They need to tout those things more in the press I would think, maybe they don'twant to bring attention that they are still addingwhat man people considered basic functionality two yeas in.

Oh dear... It seems that in fact there is a merge function, but ONLY for merging cells in vertical. When trying to merge cells in horizontal, the option "Merge" does not appear at all in the usual menu (cut/paste etc.). Now, this is just unbelievable!!! How its possible that a company that makes such wonderful devices can make such totaly basic, irrational and kindergarten bugs/lacks in their software :S
