Try a Reset...
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.
if hard reset dont work.
-if u dont wanna loose your save progress,(if u had any on those apps)
>restore IOS firmware
>restore from bkup
this would keep your save progress

I've got a similar problem where my none of the 3rd party apps open on my iPad 1 on iOS 5.1.1. They just open and shut down instantly. I've tried all of the suggested solutions (downloading a free app, updates etc, reauthorising both itunes and the ipad) but nothing works.
I've even restored the ipad several times both as new and from a backup. Also, when I try to sync the apps through itunes it gets halfway through one and cancels the sync. Because of this there are heaps of apps that just say "loading" but never do anything.
This is so frustrating its been happening for a few weeks now and still only the original apple apps work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.
Just reposted this as a separate question

shut it totally off, if that doesnt work try holding your finger pn the app that wont open for a few seconds, then pressing the home button then trying to open it again, if this doesnt work check and see if you can update you iOS, and if that still doesnt work you might want to reset your ipod to the factory settings, make sure you back up your apps on itunes and icloud first, you will lose them all if you dont. If this still doesnt work, and you have a waranty (even if you dont) bring it in to an apple store

I had the same problem!
you can try to do 2 things:
- connect your ipod to the computer and when you disconnect it will open the apps...
- download an app from the app store and then the all apps will open...
