Q: iPhone 4S Comm Center crash/signal drop solved!

After much reaseach, 6 iphone 4S, and reviews of other people trying to figure out why our iPhone4S' are suddenly crashing, then going into a terminal boot loop, it's this:

MMS from Android phones. Any carrier. Something happens inside iMessage or TXT trying to fetch the MMS, and it causes Comm Center app to crash, and the phone has to be restored.

This happens on all carriers, all Android platforms.

Props to the community for figuring this out, and boos to Apple

When your phone starts to crash and lose signal, look insider your settings under general then "diagnostic" and you will see "Comm Center" crash over and over again, more and more rapidly. It's still trying to fetch the message.

turn off MMS=no more problems

try it, report.

I've never seen this issue and I frequently send and receive numerous MMS messages from my Android users.

it's not eveyone, so far it's mostly white iPhone 4S's running 5.0.1 with any build of the OS.

it may also be limited to certain production runs from a factory in China. Comm Center is calling for a driver to pull the MMS down, and failing.

I'ce seen a few reports about this but only in relation to a few Samsung models which were apparently putting something funky in the message. It's certainly not a universal problem. Like Templeton, I've had no issues. I have both an iPhone and an Android and can send MMSs between the two. My circle of friends and co-workers include people with both all varieties of Android phones and iPhones. No reports of problems.

It's CDMA android to GsM iPhone 4S

I'm in the apple store now and we just killed their demo phone and two replacements!

    They're calling district managers now.

Confirmed: CDMA android to GSM iPhone 4s

Oh and the demo phone was a black 16gb 4S

    well here's an update:

All this took place in the Apple Store in Boise, Idaho

We took the Apple Expert's personal phone, a 4 on GSM, and sent a pic to the store demo phone, no issue

then we had my friend with the HTC HD2 on Verizon send an MMS to the same Apple demo phone, and it bricked it. Comm center crashed and could not recover.

We also bricked my phone, then the 1st replacement phone, then the 2nd replacement phone, with the exact same MMS from CDMA to GSM.

the killing phone is an HTC HD2 on Verizon

HTC HD2 on T-Mobile does not do it.

What is an HD2. I've never seen this phone in a Verizon Store. It's listed as a Windows Mobile phone. Do you mean an Incredible 2?

oh not HD2, whatever the Android one is. VZW uses stupid names for everything.

Yes, so much stupider than the names AT&T, TMobile and Sprint use for their phones.

Verizon sells a number of HTC Androud phones including the Thunderbolt, Incredible 2, Rhyme, Rezound. Are you saying it's all HTC phones? I have a Thunderbolt and none of my ATT iPhone owning friends have complained.

Incredible 2 I think it was. Not sure if it's all HTC, but it's regarless of carrier actually.

Also, this doesn't affect all iPhone 4S's, but it certainly has killed 5 of mine, and the Apple Store's demo phone

with further testing, it effects messages 600k and higher, based on carrier restrictions. Something about he software protocol used by the carrier to reduce the size of the attatchment is causing the iPhone firmware to crash.

I'll update later but at the first sight I can see that my phone is acting normal no drop signal, like I said I turned off the iMessage option.

    @therealikt

is it necessary to restore the phone and turned off the mms or u can just do this like I did ???

    TY
