read this: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3553.  Also, no one can tell you how much storage will be sufficient since we don't know what you storage needs are.

Thanks Shldr2thewheel, I found the same sight from an Apple support person, and found it VERY helpful. I wish the Apple salesmen (err Specialists) had known a little more about it when I was purchasing my Air, but it probably wouldn't have made any difference. (Just made my decision harder.)

As for needs I'll be using it to keep my pictures and music (Music also "contains" some wire tap files from work so he total size of the "music" file is: 57.46 GB  and the picture files are: 16.04 GB.  Obviously I'll need more than one SD card (the 128 gig card is too expensive). I would most likely use a third card to store files of material I'm working on from various cases.

Will they be fast enough downloading and working with on my Air desktop, are they dependable,Why isn't there more info and discussion about SD cards and slots, I know I'm not he first guy to think of this, to try and extend the Air hard drive size (at least less obtrusively than a "dangling" external HD)?

         Any other ideas?

    Thanks, Mark

I will be completely honest, I have never used an SD card and know pretty much nothing about them.  In order to serve your best interest, I will refrain from trying to guess and I will sit back and wait to see what others have to say so I can learn a little about them myself.  Good luck.
