I just got my 1st generation ipod nano replaced with what looks like a 8G 6th generation and I am frustrated. The one I sent back was working fine. This one shuts off when the screen dims and I am not sure what to do????

Livin Doll, I got a 6G Nano for Christmas (before I knew I would get one through the recall). I'm pretty sure I read that ishutting off when the screen dims is a sign of the headphone jack not being fully pushed in or there being dirt interfering (unlikely with new). Hope that helps.

I was hardheaded and tried to find a different reason besides the earphones not working, because I could hear out of them. However, when I tried to play the radio when experiencing this problem, mine indicated the headphones weren't attached. So don't let your ears fool you, you can still hear the music, even if its for 30 seconds. I'm starting to wish I didn't send in my 1st gen....I haven't even had this one for a week and now experiencing problems....grrrr!

I hope one of you guys can help me out here.
I sent my first gen ipod back to apple and got my first gen ipod back. Unfortunately they did nothing to it but included a note stating that the serial number on the ipod did not match the one registered for repair and to resubmit with the correct serial number.
My problem is that a few years ago the ipod case was damaged and I got it repaired ie a new case (reconditoned case was fitted), the serial number I registered was the electronic one that pops up when you connect the ipod to a pc, this is different to the one that is etched on the back.
Does anyone know a number I can ring someone in the UK to talk to about this, if I register the number on the case it may just get kicked back further down the process for the same conflict. Help / advice appreciated

Make sure the earbuds are all the way plugged in.
Ensure there is not silver showing between the cable and the ipod.
This should fix the issue.
Hope this helps.

Have you received your new ipod yet? I am still waiting... I submitted mine on January 8th, however. I see you sent yours in back in November.
