Q: iBook G3 Clamshell Airport WPA
Hello everyone,
I recently got eight iBook G3 clamshells (300mhz) in various condition for a bargin online and have been fixing them up and upgrading them as needed as a project.
One of them I upgraded to 576 MB of RAM, OS X 10.3.9, and installed an Airport Card.
Reading online, while the original Airport card did not originally support WPA/TKIP encryption, compatability was added in OS X 10.3 Panther as long as the airport updates were applied (3.3).
I've been trying to get this iBook to authenticate on a network with WPA/TKIP (not WPA2/AES) encryption and haven't been successful. Most of the time it says the password is incorrect, although I know it is correct. It does identify the network as "WPA Personal", so it isn't mistaken it with WEP.
Has anyone gotten this to work personally? I remember that OS X used to be a bit picky with WPA/WPA2 years back, but it's been a while and I've never owned any macs with the original airport card until now.
Other threads I've found haven't seemed to give any definitive answer on how people have gotten it to work. Let me know if I missed anything.
Thanks!
iBook G3 Clamshell, Mac OS X (10.3.x)
