When I launch iWeb I have to choose a template. So far so good. But the list with templates is empty. Thus no selection is possible and when I press cancel iWeb closes.

Any advice?
Thanks

I deactivated the german language (for switzerland where I am) so that iWeb uses english language buttons (like the RSS button).

I've done that in the Finder by using "Get Info" on the iWeb App.

Since then I haven't created any new Pages to my site. When I wanted to add a page I ran into the same problem as to not be able to create a new page cause the list was empty.

By reactivating the language I could make it work again.

Hope it works for everyody else as well. If not try to actually deactivate the language you are using; reopen the app; try to add page; close the app; reactivating the language and try again

Same problem here. I only installed iWeb(1.0.1); are the templates hiding somewhere else?

    Welcome AuntFlora

    I only installed iWeb(1.0.1)

Do you mean that you installed iWeb 1.0.0 from the iLife 06 DVD and then upgraded to iWeb 1.0.1, either through software update or by downloading from the Apple website?

I installed iWeb from the iLife '06 DVD, maybe I should try software update? It claims it is 1.0.1. There is a Templates folder in the iWeb folder, also all the languages. I can supply the plist if that would help. It seems to contain Japanese characters.

The Templates in iWeb are stored in the actual application file (go at Applications/iWeb and "Show Package Contents" to see where they are) You could try reinstalling it as that might have some effect. Maybe even try repairing permissions as that sorted out a bug with one of the templates with me.

I was just checking that you hadn't just tried to download the 1.0.1 upgrade, some people do think that its possible to get iWeb that way

I would agree with Moses that Repairing permissions is worth a shot, to do this, go to, Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility/ In this screen select your Hard Disk, then click on Repair Permissions and let it run though to completion.

Another option is to delete the iWeb preference file, to do this, go to:
User/Library/Preferences/ in this folder search for "com.apple.iWeb.plist", move this file to the trash.
    Now empty the trash.
    Then reboot your machine.
    Relaunch iWeb, any templates?

Well, I did all this, still no luck. If I can't get it fixed in a day or 2 at most, the iLife gets returned.

Have you tried accessing iWeb through a second user on your Mac to see if it works?

To add another user, go to Applications/System Preferences/Accounts/ Then click on the + sign, bottom right, and add another user.

Now try logging in as that user and see if iWeb works, this will establish if you have a permissions issue.

Also, is the rest of iLife '06 working for you?
