    Having the same logon issue with AOL error, AOL says check back in 24 hours, and this has been going on for three weeks now. Apple ID account cannot recognized the YEARS of purchases and downloads to my iTouch, so updates don't happen. 

    How can I combine the two and get rid of AOL. They are just getting 9.99/month to do nothing and not even support.

    For the last several months whenever we try to buy music, apps or try download a free app we get this message  "Unable to Sign In The Apple ID you entered couldn't be found or your password was incorrect. Please try again."

     

    I've reset the password and it says I need to activate the account via an email but I never do get the email to activate the new password.  It is an AOL account.

     

    At the "get new password" page there is a message with a number to call for AOL users.  When I call that number I don't know what selection I'm suppose to make to get help from them.

     

    Totally confused.  My kids have iTunes gift card money in the account they can't even spend.

    Well, at least I got an automated response email, that's actual progress!  The aol email that I've been using for an Apple ID never recieved *any* email from Apple.

     

    PS- the AOL account connected to Apple is the free kind so I don't have a CC# to give Apple to transfer over from the aol.com to the Apple ID

     

    Any info would be appreciated!

    Interestingly enough the AOL Apple ID that won't work with iTunes does work to sign in here.  What's up with that?  Talk about ultimately confusing.

    Heard back from "Ryan", hoping to see some progress.

    Same here. If I could merge my AOL into Apple ID that would be fine, but don't let me lose what I have purchased from AOL. Will Apple do this for us?

    Masha,

     

    Did you successfully transfer your AOL login to a new Apple ID?  If so, did all your purchase history carryover to the new account?

    I am having the same problem. I called the Aol number and they directed me back to Apple. I would really like to transfer my music over to my new Apple ID as well. In addition, Aol has stated they have gotten A LOT of calls this week in regards to this issue. I have left a message with someone at Apple I am hoping they can transfer purchases over. Fingers crossed.

    I know how you guys feel, but I swear (and I just got this fixed NOW after months of frustration) - you have to "attempt" to purchase iTunes Match on iTunes with your AOL screenname ID, and then that will give you the option to change it to the current Apple ID format (with the @email.com) - it worked for me and I'm so grateful! You have no idea how long I was trying to get this to work.
