My book is very visual - lots of images. How can I have it so that an image on page 4, when clicked on, will take the reader directly to content on page 4?

I want to guide the reader around the book in a manner other than scrolling through chapters and sections.

Oops... I should have written: "...when clicked on, will take the reader to page 44."

You want to make an image into a hyperlink to a bookmark on another page.

I don't think it is possible to set images as hyperlinks. At least as far as I've been able to figure.

    Work around

Create a rectangle object and set its fill to none

Size and place it over the image

fill it with lines of text that are made up of 1 period then spaces across the image ending in a period

copy that line of spaces with the  periods at each end enough times to cover inage

change color of text periods to be least noticable

sellect that block of period and spaces and set them up as a hyperlink to your bookmarked page

Yes this works, but is sort of funky.

you get the text magnfy glass and cut and past options sometime when clicking on it, which is not good.

you can also just do a giant "X" and have it hyper link.

and set the opacity of the "X" to zero.

I really hope Apple adds hyperlinks to images in next version.

You can straddle an image w/text and link that ...

And what about when you click an image to go directly to a webpage, is it possible ?

Many thanks for your helpful replys!

    Figured out a workable workaround:

    1) Added a text box atop my image (in this case, small inset photos)

    2) Filled the textbox with very large, bold type, such as the word "GO"

    3) In the link inspector, enabled text as a hyperlink to the desired, bookmarked page

    4) Set the text opacity to 0 (zero, thus making the text disappear) in the graphic inspector

    5) Repeat as necessary

    Works for wepages also:

    1) Added a text box atop my image (in this case, small inset photos)

    2) Filled the textbox with very large, bold type, such as the word "GO"

    3) In the link inspector, enabled text as a hyperlink to the desired webpage by adding the URL

    4) Set the text opacity to 0 (zero, thus making the text disappear) in the graphic inspector

    5) Repeat as necessary

Until I (or someone else) figures out a better way - or Apple lets us know an easier way - this works just fine.

you can't hyperlink an image, only text.

so the workaround is to use text then make it invisable.

    as stated above.
