Thanks for the reply Meg St._Clair. If your suspicions are correct, then what you are predicting is that the future Macbook laptop range is heading for a similar fate regarding BT. Or will be phased out completely in favour of a tablet probably called MacPad Pro running iOS7!

If the reason is illicit file sharing, then really there are two zillion ways (Dropbox being just one) of that issue being circumvented. Your idea of it being a security issue is in all probability correct.

I have a iPhone 4s and it came with a complementary Bluetooth issue. So I did my research and found a workaround. It never found any Bluetooth device on its own and got stuck on the infinite searching thing. But my laptop found my iPhone and I tried to connect thru my laptop and got connected. I understand if it doesn't connect with other phones or devices but at least .

You seem more like JiltedTim than KiltedTim.  Im sure you are a bigwig or something on this board but your attitude *****.  Ever since the first post you have been hateful about the bt issues.  Im not sure what your inside info is, but the bt issue IS an issue with apple and the iPhone.  Its not a car issue, its not a person issue either.  Ive had an iPho e aince day one and im now on the 4s, I was always able to connect my headphones or my car b4 the 4s.  Now its not possible, wake up and realize apple sometimes gets things wro g and refuses to admit it!

I had been having issues pairing 4s with Senheisser M550; Finally got it working...by resetting Sennheisser (it allows only max 5 pairing connections to make, if exceeded required a full reset - detail can be found on the manual provided with the kit)

    Thanks

    Welcome to "The Cult"

Just have a look through the responses and see for yourself !!!

I had the original iPhone and it was working fine with my Senheisser M400, but when I got my 4s, they would not connect.  I never figured out why not.  Never liked the Senheisser (first pair died soon...were not comfortable, would not play music via bluetooth...), so I got the Motorola S305 and they work great with the 4s--love 'em.

Clearly Apple changed something on the 4s. Perhaps they tightened up on spec compliance.  Perhaps Senheisser was living on the edge of the standard and the earlier iPhones were just forgiving.  Who knows?

Anyway, I highly recommend the Mot S305 to connect to the 4s.

I have got new 4s and I have the same problem. Once I tried to connect my phone to RCD510 in VW Passat, it said "Not compatible phone".

    Apple pls help.

Otherwise I have to throw out this toy from 16th floor.

    Hi iMister and KiltedTim,

Sorry for ignorance but do you guys represent Apple in this forum?

If you do then I can understand your frustration on repetitive questions because you are not developers and not even decision makers in apple.

If you are apple's representers here then can you just please me with the solution (not fix) to connect my plantronics bluetooth headphone with my iphone 4s? I guess I am not asking something which is not allowed by Apple.

Can I also know the reason of bluetooth failure in 4S? I used use my same headphone with my 3GS (which I replaced with 4S recently) and I do have one more 3GS with ios 5.0.1 running over it, it works fine with that phone also.

In the entire forum, I have heard your comments on every questions from poeple but haven't heard any solution for the same from you guys.

Could you please us over here?

    Thanks

This is a user-to-user technical support forum. Apple representatives don't generally post. Apple's participation is generally limited to the Hosts, who monitor the forum to maintain order.

ahh ok...in that case, can somebody advice me the way to log a complaint at Apple. This is a serious issue with such an expensive phone. Apple has introducted a fabulous feature like Siri and they must have spent lot of money in development of it but unfortunately they forgot to keep a basic need i.e. bluetooth corrected.

    This is called over intelligence

And a small suggestion for iMister and KiltedTim.

Guys since nobody is representing apple here, then don't be hyper and increase your BP, u r not liable for anything here. Sorry if you mind it.

" Sorry for ignorance but do you guys represent Apple in this forum? "

I do not represent Apple. I found my way here as a result of problems we were experiencing with iphone 4S and bluetooth.

I was working with a colleauge who had iphone 4S, and as part of our job we needed to transfer files via bluetooth from field devices. I was in the market for a new phone and was looking at iphone 4S until I found out blutooth file transfer was not possible with iphone.

I like many others assumed that the basic function of bluetooth file transfer would be included in any high end phone, Would you expect any high end phone not to have bluetooth at all ??

I have now purchased an Android Phone which never has any issues with bluetooth connectivity.

Also we travel a lot in our work and have many rental cars my colleague consistently has trouble connecting with different cars bluetooth connections. I never have any problems connecting with my Android Phone. Out of frustration, my colleague is now in the process of ditching his iphone for an Android Phone.

The iphone as a product is more refined than my Android phone, but as it cannot perform the key functions I require in my job, it is merely a toy for me in my application.

As I have said before the iphone is a well engineered product that could be greatly improved with some software updates to make it more useable in the real world.

If a single feature is that important, then the iPhone 4S is certainly not the right phone for you.  It is not intended to be all things for all people.  I, personally, have never felt a need to send any files via bluetooth.  Wi-Fi if vastly faster, and file transfers are possible with wi-fi.  I think Apple's choice to not transfer files via Bluetooth has more to do with DRM and data security than the capability of the hardware.  iPhone 4S implements the latest version of Bluetooth standards, but the IOS5 isn't set up for file transfers.  The choices made by each manufacturer often seem to be capricious to those with specific needs, but some constraints are necessary.

Look at it this way.  Some phones have NFC, others don't.  Some have voice recognition (iPhone 4S takes it to new levels), and others don't.  Some have dual processors, others don't.  Some have huge screens, others have small screens.  It is the buyers responsibility to chose a phone with the features he needs.  None of the current phones have EVERYTHING.  "You pay your money, and you makes your choices."

It would probably be a good idea to contact Apple Support directly before you go to extremes.
