Q: Kernel panics?

I have been experiencing kernel panics often lately.

I need help interpreting the data.

Here is the latest panic I had about 15 minutes ago:

You've got a number of third-party kernel extensions installed, one or more of which are probably the source of the errors:

    loaded kexts:

    com.rogueamoeba.hermes          3.0.1

    com.paceap.kext.pacesupport.snowleopard          5.7.2

    com.rogueamoeba.HermesAudio          3.0.1

    com.symantec.kext.ips          3.2f8

    com.symantec.kext.internetSecurity          1.3.2f5

My first suspect would be the Symantec security software or the software from paceap.com (I've seen someone else here recently with kernel panics who had that installed, but I don't know what the ultimate cause was there.)  but it could be any of hose items.

So should I turn off all Symantec software and those you listed?

You'll want to uninstall it, not just turn it off.  I would remove things one at a time, and when the problem goes away, you'll know exactly which one it was.  So try uninstalling the Symantec software, then use your Mac for a while.  If you get another kernel panic, uninstall something else.  Continue until you are panic-free, and then the last thing you uninstalled was the culprit.  You could reinstall the other things...  though I would think twice about the Symantec software.  Is that part of Norton anti-virus, or something else?

Yes, it's Norton anti-virus. And I also uninstalled all of the applications I downloaded from Rogue Amoeba, I don't get how it still has kernel extensions installed.

Yeah, ditch Norton...  I've got no personal experience with it, but it's got a very, very bad reputation here.  And you really don't need it.  See my Mac Malware Guide for information on how to appropriately protect yourself from malware.

I uninstalled it. Crossing my fingers hoping this would work. Thanks a lot I'll report the latest kernel panic if ever it happens again.
