I have the same problem. Apache return Server Error 502:
host 192.168.98.2 - ctrld [29/Aug/2011:15:03:28 +0300] "MOVE /webdav/ctrld/Sync/untitled%20folder/ HTTP/1.1" 502 256 "-" "WebDAVFS/1.9.0 (01908000) Darwin/11.2.0 (x86_64)"

If this is server, not client, then someone in the Lion Server Forum may have an answer?

Since this post describes exactly the problem that I'm having with Lion Server 10.7.2 and WebDAV permissions, I just wanted to add my "me too".
If someone finds a workarround for this, please, post some info since it's driving myself crazy.

You can read about my workaround for Omnifocus sync:

Thanks ctrld. It works for me. However, in my opinion, it is not a perfect solution in Lion because we just skip the problem, not to solve the problem. The bug for the internal webdav feature should need to be upgraded in the 10.7.3.
Anyway, thanks you for ctrld again because I have suffered this problem a long time ago.

That works for me and enables me to reshare a nfs mount via webdav so I can use our NAS as a group filestore. Thank you.

Can you clarify whether or not this workaround is system wide or per user? I'm hoping it's system wide because the renaming issue is jamming up our ability to have our iPad GoodReader files Sync to our Lion server WebDAV shares and a per user workaround wouldn't be feasable given the numbers. Thanks a lot for your posting.

Unfortunately it is per-user - you should create and define in Apache config all Sync directories for all users who needs WebDAV sync.

Thanks a lot for the prompt reply. We'd need to do this for 100 + users now and add another 100 + per year. Unless there is an automated way to do and maintain this that could also provide for new users being added and departing users removed, I don't think this will work for us. I'm glad to see that it's helping many people though.
Thanks again for taking the time to reply
