I've been battling with Ical since upgrading to lion, concerns include...

1. New events default to all day. When I uncheck all day it makes a 6 hours gap rather then the 1 hour under snow leopard

2. Thre is no APPLY button after I change something form all day to timed which may lead to #3

3. This is the big one. I will name the event subject and hit the red button to exit (since there is no apply button) and it shows on my ical as the event with the name. Several minutes later the event has changed it's subject to NEW EVENT with the proper times

This is working with icloud too and not google or exchange or any other solution. So we are talking Apple to Apple and this doesn't happen with my google or exhange calenders...ironcially they work perfect.

I, too, am having issues with #3 above. When I create a new event on my Exchange account in iCal, everything is correct. Moments later, the subject line has been renamed to "New Event," however the date, time, and "show as" status are all correct. I have not had this issue when adding events to iCloud, however.

Same issue here.  No matter how I enter a new event, when I exit it reverts to "New Event".  I have to go in and re-enter everything a second time, then it works.  I don't use iCloud, so I don't think it has anything to do with that.  But it's very annoying to know that I have to enter every new calendar event twice to get it right.

I've had issue #3 that you listed with iCal quite often.. The length of time that it takes to change to "new event" hasn't been consistent though. Somtimes it happens immedieately and other times after I have closed iCal. The worst part is people I invite for meetings keep getting notified of being invited to "new evnet" which isn't very helpful. This issue is only on events created in iCal. Events that I create on a PC with Outlook or from my iOS devices work fine. Whenever mine are renamed "new event" sometimes the rest of the details remain, and other times it will have defualted back to an all-day event with my alert, invitees, and note erased.. Hope there is a fix for this soon.

    I have this same issue

    also duplicates sometimes appear.

Has anyone from Apple responded to this issue?  Same scenario when creating an event in iCal: name event, set times, set location, send invites.  At some point the event I created changes from the name I specified to "new event" in my iCal (it seems to be when the first person responds) and the invitation appears in their inbox as "new event" with the correct day and time.  I've tried several different scenarios to troubleshoot with no luck.  My solution is to ask Windows users in the office to set my meetings and send invites.  This is simply not acceptable.  Just to complicate things it does not happen every time but often enough that I have no confidence in the software.  Apple?

I've never hear anything from Apple.  Guess it's just my problem.  Sometimes, the bigger they get, the more they start to resemble Microsoft.  Just sayin....

First of all, it was "just sayin..." not "just say", maybe if you could read it would help your attitude a bit.  Also, a spelling course might make you feel better about yourself and not have to strike out like you do.  We're the angry dorks???

I'm an Apple bigot too (2 Macs, 2 iPads, 2 iPhones, 2iPods, blah, blah) because I've always felt they were superior to anything else on the market, and I still do.  That doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement and when you keep experiencing the same, frustrating issue from one release to the next it is irritating.  Apparently I'm not the only one, but if our comments and/or criticisms bother you maybe you should just curl up under the covers with your Steve Jobs biography and ignore them.

    Get a life, loser!

This was fixed in the Lion 10.7.3 update that came out a week or so ago.  I had the same problem, and it is gone now after doing the Lion update.
