Feb 9, 2012 10:02 AM in response to D Murfby Michael Black,★HelpfulNo, it is not an intel machine, it is a powerPC machine. The powerPC family of cpu's were made by IBM and before that by motorola. Apple changed their hardware from the powerpc to Intel chips in 2006 with the introduction of the MacBook Pro, which repladed the powerbook series of laptops.

Feb 9, 2012 1:30 PM in response to D Murfby Texas Mac Man,Your OS 10.5.8 is the max OS for PowerPC processor Macs. Macs need an Intel processor to run Snow Leopard 10.6 or Lion 10.7.
