Jan 18, 2012 3:00 PM in response to cm477by GlennG,I had all kinds of problems when I first switched to iCloud using Outlook 2011. However, I seem to have all the bugs worked out now. I have had NO problems or errors for a long time now. I have everything set up as Apple suggested and am having no more problems. I did have the continueing error from Outlook telling me yhat was unable to store sent emails on the server, but I changed the option in Outlook prefferences to save all that to my computer instead. Works for me....

Jan 19, 2012 7:24 AM in response to Samuel Chambersby snbrown,Samuel Chambers - You caught my interest. How do you configure for the following:
It's possible to use iCal and the Mac OS X address book for your calendars and contacts, and then to use Outlook 2011 for your mail client. This is a viable solution for people "with a life," as you put it, that also incoprorates Outlook 2011 as an IMAP client with iCloud mail.
Although I really need only the Address Book portion. I intend to keep my work calendar on Outlook, and my personal calendar on iCal.
Thanks.

Hello,
I'm pretty sure that Outlook is not compatible with iCloud or MobileMe i think that Apple, inc. is against microsoft.
Outlook 2011 is compatible with MobileMe contacts but not MobileMe calendar, MobileMe and iCloud mail are imap accounts and Outlook 2011 is compatible with either (or both) of them

Jan 20, 2012 5:41 AM in response to snbrownby snbrown,Here is what I tried and had mixed resulted regarding ONLY contacts):
I downloaded and installed iSync (not sure if i really needed to).
Syncing between Outlook (empty) and Address Book (full) not working.
Moving contacts to Outlook added a new contact in AB (now having a dup in AB).
Syncing appeared to work.
I removed all of the "original AB contacts and all looked good.
Checked iPhone and I now had ZERO contacts.

After a ton of troubleshooting (and disabling iCloud), I was finally able to restore my contacts in AB and on my phone...
Problem with outlook still exists.

Jan 30, 2012 7:20 AM in response to NOT-MEEby cmmueller, authentication for my iCloud mail account stopped working a few days ago. I tried to change my incoming mail serber settings to imap.mail.mac.com. A window popped up, telling me that Outllook was emptying the cache. When the cache was empty, the folder with the iCloud mail dissappeared from the folder list. I restored the main identity from time machine and tried again. the folder again disappeared, as sonn as I changed the incoming server information.
Anyone ot there, who can help? Thank you!

Feb 10, 2012 12:34 PM in response to cmmuellerby mik194254,I have just experienced exactly the same problem as cmmueller and tried all the suggestions which have gone before nothig worked and I was about to resign myself to using Mail, when I thought I would just delete the account from Outlook (i.e. the Tools/Accoounts tab and select the "-")and then add it again (i.e. the "+" ). In adding the account it just asks for the Email address and password and "abracadabra" the account re-established with outlook and within a few minutes all the mail folders re-appeared and all mails uploaded. Now working again.
I suggest you try the same.

How did you get calendars and contacts working?

Feb 10, 2012 2:22 PM in response to mik194254by cmmueller,Thanks for the suggestion. I had tried this before with no success and just tried it again without success. I get the message
"The server for account "Mac" returned the error "Authentication failed. ........"
and the folders for my account did not reappear on the left.

Feb 11, 2012 2:28 AM in response to cmmuellerby mik194254,With outlook being a Microsoft product always best to ensure the programme is fully deleted and reloaded - MS have a habit of leaving code in strange states. When I had the problem I also received the message you identified but when I completely reloaded OS, to ensure that all code was effectively "reset", and then started from scratch initiating my Mobile Me Email service it worked OK. I use outlook as I have three other Email addresses which outlook seems to manager reasonably well (Exchange & BT etc)
In terms of the Calendar & contacts I am resigned to using address book and iCal as it would appear that Sync Services no longer function (i.e. this is greyed out in Outlook since the move to iCloud). I guess we now must wait for MS to catch up with iCloud functionality - I would have thought thah it is not too arduous a task to code "sync locally" with Calendar & Contacts but will MS think it a wothwhile development.
