My iPhone on/off switch is broken. Is there a gesture or can I configure one to take a screenshot?

iPhone 4, iOS 5.0.1

The answer to your question is "no," unfortunately. There's no buit-in way to take a screenshot other than by using the hardware buttons. But, as Underdone suggested, it's worth searching the App Store, as its possible someone has built an app for this purpose (although I doubt it would work without use of hardware buttons).

The answer is yes. Go into your accessibility settings (Settings > General > Accessibility). Go to Assistive Touch and turn it on. A little blob will appear on your screen and stay there. Tap it. Tap "Device." Tap "More." Tap "Screenshot."
