HT2498 Why does iPhoto with OS Lion no longer recognise my Sony and Panasonic cameras when they used to be recognised in 10.6?

After upgrading my OS to Snow Leopard and then Lion, I find that iPhoto no longer recognises my Sony DSC-TX5 or my Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX36 digital cameras.  They used to be recognised before in iPhoto.  Now I have to manually copy the images by accesing them in Finder.  This is incovenient, and cumbersome, it to say extremely frustrating.  Is there anything I can do?

Thanks.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.5.6)
