Before switching to Lion, I was able to create an automator workflow and then use "Save As..." to save it as an application.

With the implementation of Versions and Autosaves in Lion, I cannot figure out how to do that.  Any hints would be appreciated.  thanks.

It is a little confusing - at least at first.

    Try this:

Select "Duplicate to..." from the File menu.  You will select "Application" as the file type.  Then, hit "Save". You will be prompted for name and location as usual, there is a drop down menu in that dialog where you have to (again!) say that it's an application.
