Ok, so is there anyone that can try to move (from the normal Horizontal position, flipping it for about 90 degrees) the MacBook while is working and tell me if there a noise (like a noisy vibration) from the hard disk, please?

Better if you don't move it around while running, hopefully you will trigger the SMS (sudden motion sensor) which will abruptly shut the drive down (which will make a noise) if not you will eventually damage your drive.

Got rid of the clicking noise by installing hdapm.

    http://mckinlay.net.nz/hdapm/

    nic$ hdapm disk0 max

    disk0: ST95005620AS

Setting APM level to 0xfe: FAILED

This HD don't have support for this APM changes..

It's sound so good to be true.

I recently purchased and installed a new Momentous XT ST750LX003 750GB Hybrid into my late 2011 15" 2.2 ghz MBP.  After installing the XT into a Firewire enclosure, I used the MBP's Disk Utilities to format the new drive.  I then used a downloaded version of SuperDuper to clone my MBP's hdd onto the new XT.  The install went without a hitch.  However, instead of seeing faster boot times, boot times increased from 35 seconds with the old drive to 50+ seconds with the XT. Needles to say I was somewhat concerned.

At this point I logged into the Support Community and began searching to see if anyone else had experienced the same problem.  I came across the following 2011 post:

I used the Disk Utility to restore the original boot drive to a Momentous XT 500 GB Model ST95005620AS externally attached to my Macbook Pro 13". I then replaced the original with the Momentous drive.

At power on, my Macbook now displays the white start screen for at least 10 seconds before continuing on to the white screen with Apple logo and wait indicator. Once booted, everything seems fine and faster than before.

Has anyone seen the Macbook wait this long at power on? Thanks for your help.

    Macbook Pro 7,1, Mac OS X (10.6.6)

I realized this was the same problem I was having....  An extended White Screen.

    The very next post stated:

    "

You have to reset the pram.
Once you have done that, you will not have that 10 sec white start screen.

I had the same issue and solved it resetting the pram.

I must admit, I did not know what pram was. I searched pram, learned how to reset it and viola!  I now see boot times of...15 secods from the first "bong" sound and less than 19 seconds from the time I push the power button.

Needless to say I am not only happier with the XT, I am grateful for the folks who put out good advice on these posts.

    Thanks!

Reseting PRAM should help, as it will remove set Startup Disk and set the only installed one as such,

You could also go to system Preferences > Startup Disk , and Select hard drive there.

If I gently rotate mine 40-45 Degrees front to back the HDD makes a High Freq "singing" sound. Seagate Momentus XT ST95005620AS.

Other than that I do try to limit movement with the lid open, why take any chances. Boot time has decreased most noticeably. Prior to installing this drive and after the Lion upgrade boot time increased horribly now it's like the machine is "New".

13" MBP Early 2011 Standard config. Upgraded Memory to 8GB

installed seagate momentus XT 500GB 7200, in my mid 2010 MBP 13

works fine and is very fast. no vibration, but noise level has increased noticably

sounds like a fan running constantly now.

it's hard coming from the near silent standard drive. time will tell if i get used to it.

I have heard the 'singing' noise, under the same circumstances as you. I dealt with it by waiting until the drive stopped spinning before I rotated the machine. The 750G does not do this (the 750 spins down in much less time than the 500.)

Although I have only 1 750G installed the installation is in a mid 2010 mbp (13") and I have an identical machine with a 500G installed, the 750 is a lot faster, surprisingly so, not that the 500 is slow but .....

The 750 is Seagates 3rd gen hybrid (the first was a Windows only device) the 500 was the second, I am glad the improvement continues.

High noise level is not normal for that drive, I have used several and the noise level was unremarkeable on all, you might enquire with the vendor.

Mine is definetly quieter than the stock  5400 RPM Hitachi 320GB drive that my MBP shipped with.

What is the firmware revision on yours, I had some issues with SD25 and SD26, SD28 is the current version and all my XT's (500's) are on that revision.
