I had one iTunes account a few years back when I had an iPhone and have several purchased movies and music but I can't get into that account.  I must be trying thr right password.  Anyway, my husband bought me an iPad for my birthday and I set up another iTunes account to download games.  Some of my music came over... like 4 songs.  Very wierd.  Anyway, I'd like to get those movies on my iPad but when I go to purchase them it says I already bought them.  This is so frustrating can someone please tell me what to do?

I don't know if this will help but I had a similar problem. When I set up iCloud on my iPhone4, I could not use my existing Apple ID for iCloud because it was not an email address. After making some purchases on the music store I tried to see if I could download some old purchases but they did not show up. I asked the iTunes store support person about how to fix this, if I could combine the 2 Apple ID's and I was told know, but I could switch the Apple ID on my Mac iTunes and download the old music then sync it with the iPhone. I responded that they were missing my point, that I wanted to be able to download any purchase I have made in the past to my iPhone, otherwise, what was the point of iCloud anyway.

I discovered, by accident really, that although I couldn't switch my Apple ID on the Music store on my iPhone, I could switch the Apple ID using the settings for the App Store. This ended up having the same effect so I was able to download my old music directed to my iPhone without using the iTunes on my Mac.

You can't merge iTunes accounts. Each device can hold protected content from up to five accounts but can only be set up with one account for automatic downloads. Unless you have very good reason to create a new account you should stick with one.

You can't download movies again (with the same account) once you've purchased them so it is your responsibility to keep them safely backed up. As long as you have access to the email address for the Apple ID it should be possible to recover your password easily. If you don't it may be a bit harder but the Apple ID Support should be able to get you sorted out.
