I too have had the same problem with my 2012 CRV with Bluetooth connection. Music on iPhone4 has to be in play mode, full audio volume on phone, and it works better when Music is in the mode where the album cover is displayed on the phone. Have problems where there the song is displayed on nav system, but no sound, display of song gets stuck on nav, and get sound and no song display. Have some sucess with phone in music mode before starting CRV. So far dealer and Honda nav support have not been of much help. If I plug phone into the USB port, it seems to work better. Considering buying an iPod to leave plugged into USB as the iPhone is not consistent
Have used blackberry torch and have had no problems with Bluetooth audio.

I am having the same issue. Just got my CRV 2012 EXL. The phone 4 connected beautifully first time and also played pandora and online radio. However, in my second trip, the music stopped. I could see that the music was playing on my phone (if i disconnected bluetooth, the music blared on the phone) but i just couldnt hear anything on the car speakers. I could also see the song playing on the car displau. I increased volume on both the car and the phone but nothing happened. Interestingly, the phone was working over the bluetooth -i could make and recieve calls. It has been playing this game ever sice - it works beautifully at times and doesnt at times. Not sure if its an iPhone issue or a CRV issue. I am going to try the solutions listed in this discussion thread but do think its obvious that someone needs to come up with a permanent solution.

Just wanted to add my symptoms to the thread (in case Apple and/or Honda are paying attention )
I have a 2012 CRV EXL RES. When I try to use Pandora on my iPhone 4 or 4S connected via USB, I see the following:
(1) Sometimes works flawlessly.
(2) Sometimes I hear nothing but do see album artwork on the CR-V's in-dash display.
(3) Sometimes I hear nothing and the CR-V's in-dash display is stuck on "Loading."
(4) Sometimes I hear very faint audio (kind of like what music sounds like from headphones that you're not wearing) with no bass.
I haven't found anything that will fix items (2-4) above reliably. Cycling power on the iPhone, disconnecting/reconnecting USB, changing audio source on CR-V sometimes help sometimes don't.
When I got my CR-V in late December I had an iPhone 4 (running iOS 5). I since traded it in for an iPhone 4S and have the same problems on it that I had on the iPhone 4. (Although it might work a little more reliably on the iPhone 4S.)
I'm hoping when I take my new baby in for its first dealer service there might be a service bulletin or updates available for the CR-V and/or the iPhone.

It seems that the CRV stereo forces the iPhones volume down to zero (even the ringer volume). Sometimes you can just slide the volume slider back up and it's fine, other times, I've had to restart my iPhone. I don't know if the issue is with the Honda stereo or the iPhone, but it really *****.
I also hate that there is no quick way to switch between connected phones. My wife and I both have iPhones and the car randomly picks one to connect to. If I want to switch it, I have to go through a bunch of navigation to do it. there should be a quick switch button.

yes. but that would required digging it out of your pocket (not easy when you're sitting down with seatbelt strapped on) or digging it out of your purse (if you're a woman) and then fiddling with the iPhone settings. Plus, why would I want the bluetooth turned off? I just want a quick and simple way to switch the car's connection from one iPhone to the other. maybe with a single button press on the dash. is that too much to ask?
But really the main issue is the fact that the CR-V randomly turns my iPhone volume down to zero (and ringer volume) which means I can't hear my music and I have to go (again) digging for the iPhone to manually turn the sound back up. This completely defeats the advantage of the bluetooth connection. I might as well just hook up the phone using the aux jack like in other cars without bluetooth.

I'm intermittently having this issue as well. I noticed that completely turning off the car and restarting (to resync the phone) has been a workaround (of course a very impractical one).

Ditto here. I've noticed a couple times that the volume on the iPhone is way down. Bumping it up a notch (or two?) works immediately without actually controllling the volume intensity (I.e., it's more like it's just toggling the volume back on once you go up a notch). But this doesn't help issue #4 listed above.
Initially, I would suspect the software in the CR-V since the user base is extraordinarily smaller compared to the iOS user base. I'm glad I'm not the only one having probelms. Hopefully, we'll see a firmware update from Honda in the near future (could be applied via the USB connection I imagine). It wouldn't hurt for all of us to contact Honda about this issue as soon as possible to get it on their list of bugs to address for their next firmware/software release. The more people who report their blue tooth issues, the better the chance for some kind of resolution.

Yep, Yep. Sound like my problem. I used to hit the AUX button and it would stream fine again. Hasn't worked recently just says no data when i do it. I re "paired" the phone that worked the first time then back to the same problem. I think going into "settings" in the iphone and disconnecting and reconnecting the link has worked a few times. This kinda *****.

I have a 2012 CR-V EX-L Nav and iPhone 4, and am having the same problems. My number one complaint is that the bluetooth connection drops intermittently, and when it reconnects, the audio is interrupted by the voice saying "The phone has been connected." This doesn't happen when I'm streaming audio over bluetooth, but it does at any other times. I turn my bluetooth off whenever I have others in the car as it's annoying and embarrassing to have the music continually interrupted by the notification that the phone has been connected.
My ringer volume also gets kicked down to nothing, so I miss text messages and other notifications.

This is not a permanent solution, but I can help with your number one complaint. Before you enter your car, turn off bluetooth and wifi. Turn on the car and turn on Bluetooth only. Seems like wifi and bluetooth are fighting in the CRV.

I didn't say to turn it off completely...just toggle it. Yeah, I can see how it's a pain to do it while sititng down. I too keep it in my pocket. Next on my list is to buy a swivel clip.

I know this will sound sacrilegious, but while I am typing this on my iPad, I have an Android phone (samsung Galaxy S running 2.2) and have the same exact provlems, so it is the CRV. I just git mine and was ecstatic to see how quick, easy and successful it was to pair it, make/take calls and eventually figure out that I could stream music to it via BT. While I have had the exact hit/miss experiences with playing music, i see the exact problem just making calls. I can say that most if not all of the time that i get into the car, they connect to each other fine. Then, after making or taking a call or two, the next one does not go through. I too have discovered the various remedies, and when i go to disconnect/reconnect the device, it is either just "paired" and will not connect, or it will show connected, but will refuse to disconnect. I can turn BT off but then I cannot reconnect the devices. Oddly enough, the display on the car is showing that my device is connected.
