Similar thing here. I want to be able to share the GarageBand files between my iPad and iPhone. Unfortunately, iTunes for Windows see the xxx.band files as directories which cannot be imported. Sadly, the solution listed in the Garageband for iOS troubleshooting page says to send the songs in AAC format to share among devices when using Windows which is a pretty ******** solution even for Apple as it does not let you share the actual project to be able to work on the other device. I went to the Apple store to ask, and not one was able to help. I called Apple Support and no one was able to help. I posted the question here several days ago and received no response and then I stumbled across your post and see there is also no response. This says alot about the Apple "Support" Communities.

I had this same issue, what I ended up having to do was barrow a MAC from a buddy of mine and import all the .band files into GarageBand for a MAC and work with them there. Lucky I was at the final mixing stage on this group of songs so I got lucky, although it would be really nice to be able to bring them back to iPad/iPhone for a few instrument additions, but I'm out of luck there. I haven't found an answer for this either. I feel for you.

finally able to share Garageband files between the iPad and iPhone with the new version and iCloud. Stuff amazed that Apple would offer such a dedrater (spelled backwards because last time it was censured) solution though.

What do you mean with the "new version". I feel a little dedrater myself not knowing what you mean ;-)

Pretty interested in what kind of music you made with it.
I started goofing around a little over 9 months ago on the IPad. A little over 3 months ago I was convinced I could really make something of it and now I have my album in ITunes. Okay, production quality isn't everything, which makes sense with that little experience and just the IPad to work with, buy hey, it makes sense to me and who knows where it may lead in another 9 months ;-)

By new version I mean the version that was just released on Wednesday, Version 1.2 (178.87).
I haven't made much music with it, have only been checking it out and since I was not able to share files between the two devices, I haven't really used it. Only tested it as of yet. But since I just got the Apogee iJam, what I've done is import songs that I created on my PC with FL Studio, minus the guitar track, so I can jam along on the iPhone.
If you want to hear some of the music I've done with FL Studio (on the PC and not FL Studio Mobile as that is still in it's infancy and not very useful to me as of yet) here's a link to my Soundcloud page:
My two favorites so far are:

@AleKerr - Interesting stuff, thanks for sharing. Was everything on "Demos from the Ironing Board" Recorded on the iPad? and did you do any final mixing on another program?
I just completed a similar project with using just the iPad/iPhone; however I'm working on the final mix on MacBook Pro before release in the next month or so to clean it up. Just curious how others are working around with iPad/iPhone versions of GarageBand.

...Anyone with a solution for this? (I run Itunes on my PC so a Mac solution is not a solution for me).
Not a solid one as yet. Not fixed with the latest builds - GRRR. I have heard of people using iExplorer (formerly iPhone Explorer) to copy the files across but I had no joy when I tried to test it out last night, though it may be that iExplorer now needs an update to cope with iOS 5.1

It was completely recorded on an IPad. No other programs were used, except for the artwork which was made on my PC using Photoshop ;-)
I'm currently already working on the next album already. You can follow progress on soundcloud: http://soundcloud.com/alekerr/tracks
I think the only solution is to find someone with Garageband on a Mac :-(
