I really am not sure what is going on - about 3 months ago, I matched my 12,900 songs, and iTumes took a long time doing the matching, but more time doing the uploading. Since then, I have tried to access the library with my phone...had limited luck. I always had good luck on the original computer that did the Matching.

Now I replaced my original MacBook Pro (the one that did the original Matching) with a new MBPro. I transfered all my files and applications from my old Mac to the new one using the Migration Assistant and my Time Machine. Worked sweet.

EXCEPT. On my new machine, my iTunes seems unable to play any of the 12,900 songs that show up in the library. In iTunes I have "turned off and on" the iTunes Match several times. Nothing. So now I have no access to my music. Am I missing something?

What actually happens when you try to play music, and what do you see in iTunes?

We need a bit more info to be able to help.

Yes, we need more information before we can help you.

For instance, while I understand you used Migration Assistant to transfer all of your files, I have to ask if you kept your iTunes music library somewhere besides on the old MacBook Pro, for instance on an external drive.

If they disappear, then at some point you lost access to the local iTunes Library and it never got transferred to the new MBP.

Also, did you do anything with your iTunes library after you got your libraray into iTunes Match?

How much reading have you done about how iTunes Match works, what kind of music files it accepts, etc?  Do you know how to see which music files were uploaded, which were matched, which were left untouched because they were flagged as ineligible?

Thought an external drive might be the source of your problem, but wasn't sure based on what you originally posted.  Main thing is you got it solved, and kudos to you for taking the time to read previous postings.  Amazing how many people don't afford themselves of the information readily available to them here.

No problem Gimmer. I'm glad you sorted it.

No worries about the points. The main thing is knowing that it helped.

I know what you mean.  Until recently, if you wanted to look for Apple's own support docs related to iTunes Match, you really had to search.  Before the put them up on the start page, I pulled the links to them all together, posted it, then with help from others, kept bumping it so it would show up high on the list.  Never should have had to do that.
