Feb 25, 2012 10:04 PM in response to djmeaneyby BDAqua,Hi, Disk #1 is the strangest number I've ver seen!??
But on Disk #2 we might infer something, since it includes things that work on similarly released Macs...
My G4 1.67Ghz PB (pre-Oct 2005) came with a package of 2 DVD's (both in one envelope). The first is as you indicated, except for the last line, which says '2Z691-5517-A'. The second DVD says 'Mac OS X Install Disc 2, Disc Version 1.0' and the number is '2Z691-5499-A'.

Feb 26, 2012 7:17 AM in response to BDAquaby Texas Mac Man,★HelpfulBDA,
The two DVDs that came with my G4 PB 12" 1.5GHz are the same.
Disc 1: 2Z691-5517-A, Disc version 1.1, OS 10.4, AHT version 2.5
Disc 2: 2Z6691-5499-A, Disc Version 1.0 (Includes Mac OS 9.2)
So, I guess some gray discs are not totally model specific.
Cheers, Tom

Feb 26, 2012 7:22 AM in response to djmeaneyby Texas Mac Man,Your G4 667 Titanium Powerbook came with OS 10.1 pre-installed. So gray discs are not what you need to get to Tiger 10.4 (the max OS for your PB).You need a retail Tiger installer.
Tiger install DVDs are in short supply. Tiger is no longer available at the Apple Store but may be available for $129 by calling Apple Phone Sales @ 1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753). For other sources, do a Google search for MA453Z/A (10.4.6), MA190Z/A (10.4.3) and M9639Z/A (10.4). Also look on eBay. Be sure & buy a retail version (black with silver X) and not a model specific version (gray) (See http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1976068 Can I use another Mac's system restore disc on my Mac?.
Also check these web stores: http://www.lacomputercompany.com/cgi-bin/rpcart/index.cgi?command=dispitem&type= sku&sku=19521 http://www.allmac.com/shop/index.php?cPath=5_10003
After you install the base 10.4.x, update to the final Tiger version 10.4.11. Here's the link for the 10.4.11 combo update http://support.apple.com/kb/TA24901?viewlocale=en_US
Look at this link Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger Installing Software Support Page
http://www.apple.com/support/tiger/install/
You can also download the Tiger Installation and Setup Guide
http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/Tiger_Install_Setup_Guide.pdf
When you upgrade the OS, do it via Archive & Install. See About the Archive and Install feature http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1710
Be sure to select Preserve Users & Settings. Also, repair permissions before and after the install.
Cheers, Tom

Feb 26, 2012 9:36 AM in response to kurt188by djmeaney,Kurt188,
My Titanium Powerbook G4 - 667 has a 15" screen and a Superdrive running10.1., and the disks don't work. I'm leaning toward it being the 12" as indentified by Texas Mac Man.
Thanks for all the help.

Feb 26, 2012 9:44 AM in response to djmeaneyby kurt188,★HelpfulThey don't work on yours because they aren't for the Ti PowerBooks; they're only for the PowerBook G4s that have a built-in Dual Layer Superdrive, which are a minimum of 1.5 Ghz.
