Yes, we need more information before we can help you.
For instance, while I understand you used Migration Assistant to transfer all of your files, I have to ask if you kept your iTunes music library somewhere besides on the old MacBook Pro, for instance on an external drive.
If they disappear, then at some point you lost access to the local iTunes Library and it never got transferred to the new MBP.
Also, did you do anything with your iTunes library after you got your libraray into iTunes Match?
How much reading have you done about how iTunes Match works, what kind of music files it accepts, etc? Do you know how to see which music files were uploaded, which were matched, which were left untouched because they were flagged as ineligible?

Keith and Jim,
Last night, after posting this, I just started going through all the iTM discussions and I happened across this one:
That poster had the same problem I did, and Keith posted a solution. I tried that solution (authored by Keith) and it worked. I then promptly fell asleep. Sorry I didn't update this post right then. Keith, if you want to post the answer here, I will mark it as solving my question (might be helpful for others, and you get those coveted 10pts...).
Thanks for what help you both offered.

Thought an external drive might be the source of your problem, but wasn't sure based on what you originally posted. Main thing is you got it solved, and kudos to you for taking the time to read previous postings. Amazing how many people don't afford themselves of the information readily available to them here.

Thanks guys. The frustrating thing is both not quite knowing how to search for the problem, but also that searching discussions here doesn't tend to return very relevant results. I did a bit of that, but keywords I thought would bring me to helpful previous posts never did return anything meaningful...in the end it just took walking down the lists of posts and scanning for something relevant.

I know what you mean. Until recently, if you wanted to look for Apple's own support docs related to iTunes Match, you really had to search. Before the put them up on the start page, I pulled the links to them all together, posted it, then with help from others, kept bumping it so it would show up high on the list. Never should have had to do that.
