In most cases the cable connection between the logicboard and the display which runs through the hinges is broken.
You can still use your computer connected to an external display.

Nov 9, 2012 9:18 AM in response to sarahs245by Marie Marcy,I finally figured out how to get the screen on, bc I had a similar problem with my old screen & someone told me to re-seat the Graphics card, by holding down the shift key when booting.
Got the screen on.
