How can I FIND my username? I don't mind not being able to change it, but how can I find out what it is? Because I can't get signed into the community forums without my username apparently.
(I am currently signed in under my friend's apple ID, because I have spent hours by myself and with Apple store Geniuses and online chat support, etc.....and no one can help me!)

No, I haven't tried that, because I know my apple id. I HAVE gone to the "manage your account" section of Apple ID....but it only has name, address, birthdate, password.....nothing about "username"

That's because the alias here is not part of your Apple ID. It's only used for the Communities. And again, you sign in here using your Apple ID name, not your alias for the Communities. So if you know your ID, use that. If that's not working, post back with details including the error message if any, and we'll go from there.

Sorry, should have supplied more info.... Here is what's happening.... and this is why I'm using my friend's ID to log in to the forum.....
I go to support and click on Communities. I click on sign in. I enter my appleid & password & submit.
I am presented with the login screen again with the following message
"Please sign in again. For added security, we need to reconfirm your Apple ID"
I enter my password again, and submit.
Im directed to a screen with the heading "Pick a username".
It has my apple ID details - so I have evidentally authenticated ok.
Choose your Apple Support Communities username.
Your username is your public identity in Apple Support Communities.
It cannot be changed after you create your account
I am not sure why I have to choose a username...But anyway....
I get the following error message:
An account utilizing this email address already exists. Only one account per email address is allowed on Apple Support Communities.
I am really stumped here. It is asking me to "choose" a name....and no matter what I put in, it gives the same error message.

That'd be great, thank you!! The only thing I can think of is that I maybe I used that email address (apple ID) previously to post to forums, BEFORE I used it as my apple ID....so when I try to log in to the forums now it is telling me that email is already taken and that I should use a different email address.....like it doesn't know that it is me in both places? But if that IS what is happening, I haven't figured out how to resolve it.
