A Sony NX5 (AVCHD) in 1080 50i.
The Samurai/Ninja also displays 1080 50i

I have the same problem with FCPX in Imac and I contacted directly to Atomos. This is their reply:
"I have tested with 50i footage in SAmurai and can confirm that FCP is picking this up as 25p. We are unsure if this is a problem with FCP or us so need to investigate more and also need to have this reported to Apple."
So they are working with it and I hope we will get firmware update out soon. Otherwise my samurai unit is useless. We shoot for tv and the format should be 1080 50i.
If I remember correctly my Finalcut 7.0.3 in laptop shows the footage as 1080 50i but the footage do not play well in the 50i timeline and rendered output file is poor, so problem is there also.
I really like the idea of Samurai. Hope they make it work soon.

If I change manually the fielddominance (info tab) renderbar will be present if I take this fixed file (progressive changed to upperfirst) into the 1080 50i timeline. It does not either help with the playback or rendered output. Or do you alexgrainger have some other workflow?
Does 720 50p work ok?

What do you see in playback? What's wrong with it? How are you monitoring the video? In the Viewer? What size?

I also had an email back from Atomos saying they experience this problem, and are working on it.
In the viewer if I add the clip to a 1080 50i project, the interlacing (which FCPX sees as a 25P clip) looks all wrong, unless you change the field dominance to upper field only. Then however the project needs rendering.

Same problem here, but same footage shows up as 50i in the Edius properties menu. So I suspect that it is an FCP X problem.

I have also problem with recorded 720 50p. Final Cut X recognize it as NTSC (it should be pal). When I drag and drop it into the time line the following appears "The video properties of this clip are not recognized". Final cut succests 720 50p correctly but playback is choppy. I am monitoring with cinemadisplay and size 100%. Clips are in G-raid drive and I have no problems to playback Aja ki pro files with the same setup (proress also).
Have to take this samurai back to store if Atomos and Apple will not solve the problem soon.

I am told that this is now fixed by Samurai firmware v3.0 - I have not tested this yet but will let everyone know my findings. Anyone else tested?
