I'm pretty good with tech stuff and good at figuring out problems on my own but I seem to be stumped on this problem. I've been using iMessage since the release and never had any sort of problems. While sending iMessages to different people I have no problem except for one person in particular. I know carriers have nothing to do with it or that's what I've been told. Could be apple servers being down but how could I be able to send other people iMessages except for this one person. When I send messages to this person sometimes the message goes through as iMessage and sometimes it backups and stacks then sends as a SMS. This just started happening recently and it's been 4 days and only happens to one person.

This also happened to me, it often happens when a users iPhone has a weak or non-existent internet connection. You should consult them to see if they have internet data allowance.

Other reasons is they may of accidently turned iMessage off - this can be fixed by following these steps: Open settings > Scroll to find 'Messages' > Select iMessage to 'On'.

    Goodluck, I hope this helped.

I can almost guarantee that is the cause.

    Goodluck.

    Hmm, strange.

Maybe try turning SMS off on your phone, then try to resend the message and see what the result of that is?

Also, what iOS is she running on her device?

Oh, and try this: Settings > Messages > iMessage (click it off, then on) > 'Use your Apple ID for iMessage'  > Change to new ID

    You're very welcome.

Unfortunatly, I am all out of ideas - best of luck in fixing it!

Not sure what the issue is either but I can say that mine is doing the exact same thing and there is nothing wrong with any of the networks I am on. Very odd. I have also tried many things. If this is happening to multiple people, which it seems like it is, then there has to be an issue. Right?

My wife and I started experinecing same issue last night. She's on ATT and I am on Verizon, so it doesn't seem network related.

Also, FWIW, my desktop Messages (beta) stopped sending messages too.

    Something is definietly afoot.

Just an update to say that suddenly Messages on iphone and desktop is working.

I'm unsure as to why it suddenly started working though...

I was logged in under my .mac address, so I logged out and logged back in using the .me address when things suddenly started working (could send an iMessage).

Who knows if the 2 events are related?  It seems kinda unlikely to me.
