in snow leopard, is there a way to window maximise and turn off all window animations? whether through the system inbuilt functionality or a 3rd party product?
Check out OnyX, TinkerToolm there are likely others too, check on Macupdate.com as Apple likely won't carry this type of "system altering" software on the AppStore.
cool, thanks. i did see lots of posts on google how to turn off animations, but even when i followed the instructions they were still there, like when i press F9, the windows zoom back - i hate that...
I'll check out onlyX

No need, just use your Apple menu > System Preferences > Exposé and change the Function Key commands if your hitting F9 by accident.
When you asked originally I thought you needed more specialized controls.
actually i don't want to turn off the F9 functionality, I just want the zoom animation of it turned off
