Hi,

I'm having problems syncing my IMAP webmail with Apple Mail (V5.1).  I've set up the account in Apple Mail using the webmail (GoDaddy) online instructions, as well as Apple Mail help.  Mail Downloads all my emails/files perfectly.  And emails are received perfectly by Apple Mail from my webmail.

BUT... when I delete an email in Mail, it won't delete it in back in my webmail.

I've been through this with GoDaddy, the webmail server to no effect, they just point to a problem in Mail.

Can anyone figure this thing out?

Cheers

    Hi Craftyste,

I am having the same problem.  I delete mail or file mail into folders, on Apple Mail, from my GoDaddy Email account....minutes later they all show up again in my Inbox!!!  Terribly frustrating.  Apple points to GoDaddy as the problem and GoDaddy points to Apple as the problem.  In defense of both I will say that Gmail account works fine on Apple Mail and on my PC, my GoDaddy account works fine on Outlook.

    ...WHO IS TO BLAME???

I just wish the 2 would have a chat and get it fixed!!!

Let me know if you have found any solutions.

While I'm a big fan of Godaddy for domain registration, I've been very disallusioned with their email services. We have multiple email accounts with Godaddy, and many of our clients have email accounts with Godaddy as well. For the past couple of months, we've been chasing our tails trying to resolve this issue of disappearing emails (specifically from IMAP accounts, but from some POP accounts as well), Apple Mail clients going off-line on Godaddy email accounts repeatedly (but not other providers), and other issues.

After many attempts, system rebuilds, a variety of settings changes offered by Godaddy, and much lost time and revenue, we finally decided to abandon email hosting with them. Their argument that it must be an Apple problem, and Apple's reply that it's Godaddy's servers, were both infuriating. We've moved some clients to Gmail hosting, and that seems to be working beautifully. (It's also free).

For the business accounts that require some sort of reliable tech support and accountability (unlike Gmail), we've moved to rackspace.com for email hosting. But really, there are many providers out there, some more experienced, reliable and expensive than others. One thing is certain, as least for us. Godaddy was unable to resolve our issues and will no longer host our email accounts. Shop around. You can retain your domain and host your email just about anywhere. We would not recommend Godaddy or Network Solutions for email hosting. There are many tutorials available online that explain how to migrate your domain to another host. Some hosting companies also offer automated tools that do most of the heavy lifting for you.

OK....I HAVE THE PROBLEM SOLVED!!!  At least on my end.  I called into Apple and spoke with a Senior Tech Support...can I give numbers here? (877-416-4271 X2337) oops.  At any rate, he had me go into Mail Preferences and turn off my store Drafts on Server.  Apparently there is an issue with this and the Mail App can't flush the system of whatever Draft they are trying to send to the server and consequently all other emails get delayed or don't funtion properly.  He said Apple is aware of the issue and working on a resolution.  I noticed that before, I would see an abundace of Drafts saved even though all of the emails in the Drafts folder had already been sent. It has worked for me an I am happily using my GoDaddy Email with the Mail App...you lose a bit of functionality in that you can't store your drafts on the Server but it is a minimal setback compared to what was gained.

Thanks for the post OC. Still, other providers don't have that issue. We're continuing with our move away from Godaddy. But I appreciate your post. Something to keep in mind if certain clients don't want to make the move.

I'd agree with tourpilot, a more credible mail provider is probably the best route to solve most of the problems you've been encountering.  Another good reason to quit GoDaddy servers in Europe is that there is absolutely no possibility of mailbox recovery because the European mail operation does not conduct any form of backup, unlike the US operation. I know it sounds incredible, but if you are an existing customer drop them an email asking about european recovery and see what response you get

    This helped me!

It was happening also on my Brazilian mail server Uol.

Now I have it syncing right away (but draft folder apears on my Mac and on server).

    Thank you!
