Q: Cleaning Cinema Display

Hello.

I have old 22-inch Cinema Display (M8149).

The previous owner had put some stickers on the plastic casing of the display which seem to be from a long time ago.

I want to remove them all to retain the clean look of Cinema Display, without damaging the plastic casing.

And, I also would like to know the proper way to clean the LCD screen.

Does anybody have a suggestion?

For cleaing my 27" apple screen I like iKlear but there are other similar products on the market.  The stuff works well on the trackpad and magic mouse too.

For removing stickers off of plastic I think you should do some googling for that.

    "remove stickers from plastic"

Thanks for the recommendation on cleaning screens.

I did try googling that--removing stickers off of plastic, but most of the results were saying: "peel it off for new stickers, or apply a chemical product for old ones."

I am afraid that the sticker on my Cinema Display seems at least five years old, so simply peeling it off would only remove the top layer of it, leaving the glue residue. Applying chemicals seems to damage the casing, which is not what I want.

Has anybody done the similar thing? I really have no idea.

I wouldn't think using some alcohol would hurt the surface if you exposed the "sticky stuff".  Might not do anything either of course.

One idea may be to use some tape (duct tape?  Clear tape?) to try to smooth on the sticky stuff and remove hoping some of the sticky stuff will stick to the tape.  Repeat this as many times as it takes to remove all the sticky stuff.  Might work.  But I am only speculating here.

If that 22-inch Cinema has an acrylic surface then I would suggest calling TapPlastics (and checking their web site).  They deal with everything plastic.  If anyone would know how to do this, and it can be done, they would (I've dealt with these folks at one of their local stores, very friendly and helpful).
