another one here that got approval within 24 hours. In fact it may have been as short as 10 hours as I was sleeping and when I woke up and checked later, it was there!

Submitted one of our books on 2/15 (free textbook).  Initial response send to contact them if it's not approved after 10 business day.  On the 11th business day, I contacted Apple and they responded several days later indicating that they have a long queue.

I agree with James Hollis that they probably have a deal with the publishers, but it's hard to know how long that deal might be.  They certainly have not approved any new textbooks since launching Textbooks in Janurary.

There was an article in the WSJ today that the Department of Justice is getting ready to sue Apple and the publishers for price fixing.  This is unrelated to Textooks, but thought it was interesting and hopefully it will spur Apple to move forward with allowing other publishers to push their textooks.

I originally uploaded my 800-page, 1.4GB IBA file on Feb. 28. It contains quite a bit of text, pictures, video and audio (no Java or custom HTML widgets though).

I received a ticket yesterday that there was a problem with one page in the book. I made the change (and also discovered I had to download the new 1.1 IBA update and re-export the book). So here's to hoping there are no more problems and it's approved sooner rather than later.

But in any case, given the size of my original file, 11 days before Apple apparently looked at it doesn't sound so bad compared to some of the stories I'm reading on here.

What kind of book is (textbooks or regular book and paid or free)?

Ah, well, was fun while it lasted. Yes, it is a paid book. But not a textbook. Hopefully it will clear with no more problems and hit the bookstore soon. : )

All y'all that are waiting, be sure you check the not-obvious link to see if there are any errors. At the bottom of the Recent Activity screen where the red dot appears and it says that your book isn't in the store, click and then click the "See Details" link that appears.

That should pop up a box at the bottom with a list of errors.

Sorry if everyone except me already knew this. I only discovered it yesterday.

Reading about all the successes reminds me of something I posted on another thread in the forum, but which I think got buried. Is there a way forum authors who have books for sale on iTunes could let the other forum members know? Some sort of master list with links? I would buy some forum members' books just to see how the experts did it, to get new ideas.

Finally heard back from Apple today:

"Your book is not available for sale in the iBookstore because the book preview is missing.  Apple requires custom previews for Multi-Touch and Read Aloud books.  You may upload your custom preview using iTunes Producer."

Great. Unfortunately, they don't explain how to do this. Here's what I've attempted:

I open producer (2.6 - which I just downloaded; used earlier version to upload book), then select Open Package and navigate to the file which ends in itmsp. I then go to the Assets tap and under "Publication Preview" and hit the choose button. I navigate to the iBooks Author document but am unable to select the book. Frustrating...
