Photos for MacYou don't. iTunes Match only works on music (and music videos purchased from the iTunes Store).

Mar 8, 2012 10:51 AM in response to Michael Allbrittonby ryanvoight,@ Michael Allbritton, According to Tim Cook, movies have now been added to iCloud, but there wasn't any sort of explanation as to how this works. Don't just answer the question without researching first.
@ scottmmckinney, here's a little more info on it: http://www.wired.com/epicenter/2012/03/apple-tv-easter-eggs-cloud-matching-for-m ovies-netflix-billed-to-itunes-and-more/
It appears that it doesn't work quite like iTunes match for music where it will upload any file to the cloud, but rather there are specific movies from specific studios that can be added.

I don't have to do any "research." I suggest you do so first before castigating someone else. Start with this page <http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-match/>.
"iTunes in the Cloud" is different from "iTunes Match." You access the former by going to the iTunes Store and clicking Purchased under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the page.
iTunes Match is still only for music (and music videos purchased from the iTunes Store). It does not support any other purchased videos from the iTunes Store.

Mar 8, 2012 11:13 AM in response to Michael Allbrittonby ryanvoight,I didn't mean to offend you, it just seemed like you were hastily answering the question without trying to help scottmmckinney understand the changes that were being made to iCloud. I should've made a clearer distinction between iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match and for that I apologize.

Mar 11, 2012 1:31 PM in response to Michael Allbrittonby wvito,According to the Apple Event announcement last week, iTunes Match is now to work with movies, BUT I see no mention of this in iTunes. Anyone know the release date for this immprovement?

Mar 11, 2012 1:39 PM in response to wvitoby KeithJenner,That isn't the case.
Movies have been added to iTunes in the Cloud (in the US anyway), which is totally different.
It means that if you go to the purchased tag in the iTunes store you can re-download some previous movie purchases.
Movies are not being added to iTunes match, at least not yet.

May 31, 2012 7:17 AM in response to wvitoby masterpiece01,My question: I have movies that I purchased (Blu Ray / DVD / Digital) Combo (loaded on my iTunes thru iTunes registration code. Can I save them to, or upload them to iCloud so they can be watched using Apple TV. if my wife and / or I want to watch them on our TV using Apple TV, they don't show up at this point unless I access my MAC using "Home sharing."This is only good if I'm home and my MAC is online, however when I'm gone, my wife won't have access to them.
Any help would be appreciated.

Mar 17, 2013 5:12 PM in response to wvitoby lcsgeek,Yes, I have a workout video off youtube that I'd like to copy to my wifes iPad for her. Problem is, I just formatted and reinstalled the OS on my system and now iTunes wants to erase all the data on my wifes iPad before I add any more data to it - I wish I could get the iPad to "just work". So I had the idea to copy the movie from my iTunes to iCloud and then pull the movie down to the iPad from iCloud but as I see this isn't going to work either. Really liking my new Surface though, it has a navigatable file system and a USB port.

May 8, 2013 7:54 PM in response to scottmmckinneyby Enlil_,Well, I just called Apple technial support and the rep had no clue. So, I decded to experiment.
All that you need to do is right click on the movie in your library and select delete. When you do so, iTunes will tell you that "this title will still be available in your iCloud for playback." Continue with removal and presto, you cleared up hard drive space and still have access to the movie in your iCloud (the little iCloud icon will appear at the upper right of the movie thumbnail in your library). It plays back fine.
Hope this helps!

May 8, 2013 9:34 PM in response to Enlil_by Michael Allbritton,You did not "add" anything to "iCloud." What you are seeing is Apple's iTunes in the Cloud service they have integrated into the iTunes browser. It is only for "approved" movies and TV Shows that are purchased from the iTunes Store. It does not support any videos you add to iTunes from other sources.
Also, iTunes in the Cloud is not a backup service and should not be relied upon as such. You need to be backing up your purchases locally. If the copyright owner of the movie you purchased (which is not Apple) ever decides to remove that item from the iTunes Store, and you do not have a local backup of that video, you will lose it. So... back it up.
