I have Snow Leopard 10.6.8, Just purchased Lion iPod.
When I install, can I port Lion to a new drive without over writing the Snow Leopard drive???

An iPod does not run Lion. It runs some version of iOS.
sorry i purchased the
OS X Lion USB Thumb Drive
and I would prefer to install “LION” to a new hard drive ( a sata installed in the MAC Pro) and not overwrite my existing Snow Leopard installation.
Sorry about using the wrong terms.
Sure you can go ahead and do a straight install to your other hard drive and it should be completely bootable and useable on your MBP.
(As long as MBP meets the spec for Lion)
Thanks for the info, I am just a key-pounder and have always installed the New O/S to a ‘new’-seperate hard drive.
I do not like downloading on Comcast slow (butt)-cable, it allows 2Mb/sec start then clamps at 500kb/sec!~!!
After download save the Install Lion.app that will be in your /Applications folder for future use.
