Mar 9, 2012 3:05 AM in response to rafimfby Darker Times,I have the same issue too. Are you guys UK based as I am?
Seems others in the UK have been able to get the update, but I have been trying since yesterday, and nothing.
I have restored and reset everything, and to no avail. Everything works fine, it just wont update. iPhone update worked for me yesterday.

Mar 9, 2012 3:49 AM in response to rafimfby jrheling,Having the same problem, since the evening of the 7th. I'm not in the UK (in the states). Today, following advice in another thread, I even tried a 'restore', but that didn't help either.

Mar 9, 2012 3:55 AM in response to jrhelingby Sandman26,This was posted byMikito a short while back - seems it has something to do with how some ISP's have their DNS:-
I got it to work by changing the DNS address in my router then changed it back after the upgrade was completed. simply change it to Primary DNS: 208.67.222.222 Secondary DNS: 208.67.220.220 it works. I was having issues thinking it was the saturation of everyone trying to upgrade and this solved the issue. No idea why until now the issue started since I never had to do this to upgrade. but it works.
Good Luck
Miguel
Thanks, Miguel. I went into Network settings on Apple TV and configured manually with the Primary DNS you noted above and it worked. (I'm assuming once update is finished i will just go back to network settings and switch to "automatic.")
Thanks!

Mar 9, 2012 9:38 PM in response to LinkLinkby Sandman26,Hi LinkLink - if you check my posting above, one of the responders to Miguel changed the settings in his Apple TV, I believe that would be under "General Settings/Network"

Mar 10, 2012 7:46 AM in response to Sandman26by stefanis,This helped me to, but it seems that the new software 5.0 for AppleTV 2, doesn´t support HD 1080p. The maximum resolution for my Apple TV2 after upgrading still specifies this being 720p. Why so? For me the possibility to get 1080p was the whole meaning of upgrading...I suppose the reason for this restriction of resolution for AppleTV2 with 5.0 is the fact that Apple TV2 has processor A4 instead of A5 as for the new Apple TV hardware. Still, what´s then the meaning of upgrading to 5.0 if you anyway have to buy the new version of Apple TV to get 1080p...?

Mar 10, 2012 8:37 AM in response to stefanisby Damian Smith1,Stefanis you are right that is a hardware issue with the ATV2 not being able to display 1080p. People are upgrading the software thinking it will result in the ATV2 being capable 1080p. Apple built a custon A5 chip just for the ATV3.
Here's an article about the new ATV3
