I was excited to see the genius button back, so I tested it.  The first some failed ("Try again"), so I tried two songs that I knew had worked before.  They both worked! (although the first one crashed once before it did).

That was yesterday morning.  Starting yesterday afternoon, nothing has worked, including those two.

I'm assuming it's some sort of bandwidth issue.  It would be nice if Apple would at least acknowledge this.

For what it's worth, this is finally working for me.  Give it a try.  I don't know what it was exactly that I did to solve the issue (updated match a time or two, maybe?), but it's consistently working on my iPhone 4S now.

Do you mean : Genius MIXES are working, or Genius LISTS are working ?

In my case : lists are working fine. But Mixes don't appear on my iphone or ipad. I only have this feature on itunes on my mac.

Sorry - the genius playlist feature works (can now pick a song, click Genius icon, and get a 25 song genius list).

I don't see mixes yet on phone (haven't checked iPad) - they're still just hanging out in iTunes on my PC.

Still not working for me.  I've tried toggling Match, re-syncing, etc, and still no luck.  In fact, even Genius *without* Match has become hit or miss, failing about 1/4 of the time for the same song.

It would be nice if Apple would at least acknowledge this, instead of sticking to their usual "Problem? What problem?" party line.

Well - today I updated Match and lo and behold - I could CREATE a genius playlist on my PHONE. Will wonders never cease. I did it in the playlist screen, by selecting "Create Genius Playlist." I have also done it just from the Genius button while the song is playing.  I wonder why it's taken this long to work?

Tried that, still no luck creating Genius playlists from the phone :(

I tried updating both iTunes Match and Genius in iTunes and I still genius won't work. I wonder if it's because I don't have the actual music files in my library and only in iCloud...

I had tried updating iMatch several times before and had given up on it.  I read FlownOver's post and tried it again.  Now it works....

OK, it seems to work now.  I updated match and genius on my main computer, then synced the iPhone again, then repeated that just for fun.

I have no idea if that had anything to do with it, since I'd done it all several times before.  Maybe it was just a coincidence, or maybe it was that chicken I sacrificed to the Apple Gods.

Anyway, it's working now.  We'll see if it works tomorrow.

Thanks for all the guidance, Apple.

Tried updating Genius and Match, then sync-ing again, still nothing.

I also don't have the music files stored locally - I'm starting to wonder if that's wise

If it helps, I've tried updating Match and Genius and re-syncing over and over, and there is no improvement. I have nearly all of the songs stored locally in iTunes, too.

My guess is this is some sort of server side issue that's being quietly solved regionally.  All this sync, re-sync, match off, match on stuff is just a placebo to convince ourselves we're doing something while we all simply wait for it to start working.
