    Same problem here... Very annoying!

    Same problem here, on both iPhone 4S & iPad2 (3G GSM, 64GB). Both running iOS5.1, iTunes having been updated to 10.6. When selecting to upload journal to iCloud, I just get the little spinning wheel in the uper right part of the small window; the upload never finishes.

    If it makes any difference, I'm located in Europe.

    OK, I have some more info. When selecting to publish to iCloud, this is what i get in my console for th iPad (I'm a developer, so this is taken from Organizer in Xcode):

    Mar  9 23:28:19 unknown iPhoto[717] <Warning>: Error creating public path: file://localhost/SimonLocal/Mobile%20Documents/82J93X7T25~com~apple~mobileiphot o/Public/ error: Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=513 "The operation couldn’-t -b-e -c-o-m-p-l-e-t-e-d-. -(-C-o-c-o-a -e-r-r-o-r -5-1-3-.-)-" -U-s-e-r-I-n-f-o-=-0-x-f-c-d-3-b-7-0 -{-N-S-F-i-l-e-P-a-t-h-=-/-S-i-m-o-n-L-o-c-a-l-, -N-S-U-n-d-e-r-l-y-i-n-g-E-r-r-o-r-=-0-x-e-7-6-6-7-a-0 -"-T-h-e -o-p-e-r-a-t-i-o-n -c-o-u-l-d-n’-t -b-e -c-o-m-p-l-e-t-e-d-. -O-p-e-r-a-t-i-o-n -n-o-t -p-e-r-m-i-t-t-e-d-"-}

    And then the final row repeats about once per second.

    So there seems to be a path error, related to trying to do something outside of the allowed accessible directories. I don't know what the "SimonLocal" thing is, except that I seem to recall that quite some time ago I had a directory on my Mac at /SimonLocal which I used for some local file storage. How that path somehow has entered iPhoto on iPad I do not know. I can't find any reference to /SimonLocal on my Mac anymore.

    Similar on iPhone 4S. I noted that there is actually a suspicious log even before the one above, when the iPhoto app starts (and shows its "Upgrading library-message"):

    i thought i was having same problem,  but it appears that it is simply a problem of it takes a while to actually publish the journal,   hence the spinning wheel...   (either a problem with wifi speed, or a problem with Apple Servers)

    if you come back 1/2 hour later or 1 hour later,  you should see that the links are now highlighted... do not make any changes of "add to home page" or "Publish to icloud"  or "edit journal"  or your wait will be a little longer...

    this time of course will vary wildly between each person and setup (and possibly Apple server load)...

    Will it still upload if your screen locks, or do you have to have it open for an hour (i.e. keep having to touch the screen to make sure it uploads?) Oh, and does it have to be the main app or can it do this in the background?

    I tried uploading a journal with only 4 pictures. I gave up after an hour of the little wheel spinning. There is something else going on. I know it's not my wifi because I tried a one image journal using 3G and it seemed to never finish.

    Hi,

    same problem here. IOS 5.1, all updates current. 50Mbit down / 10Mbit up - bandwith should not be the problem with the 4 prictures. Hopefully it gets fixed before my next vacation!

    Heiner

    - well, it just takes ages, but it works. So for everyday situations (like, not waiting for it to publish) it should work fine.

    Same here. I am on the uni network which is blazing fast usually, but still nothing published after a 50 min wait for a 5 pic journal... Something's not right!
