Mar 7, 2012 9:43 PM in response to kanga202by kag49601,You are correct, it is not working for me either. I can delete a photo off of the photostream from iPhoto and the "Photos" app on my iPad (running 5.0.1) and the pictures still are found in the cloud. When I open up Aperture after the ios delete, the photos still apear on the mac.... Not sure what is going on....

Mar 7, 2012 10:57 PM in response to kag49601by Malh,It seems like photos that were in the photostream before today's update will only disappear from the photostream of the device you are deleting it from. Photos placed in the stream after the update will disappear from the cloud and all devices when deleted. At least that's the way it appears to be working on my devices. Can anyone verify?

Mar 8, 2012 2:10 AM in response to lucasc5by klu,With the iOS 5.1 update, Apple allowed to delete photos from Photostream but what a confusion:
Here is what happens:
- in Photos on iOS: go to Photostream and delete photos works but they are not deleted from Camera Roll
- in Photos on iOS: delete photos in Camera Roll does not delete them from Photostream
- in iPhoto on iOS: Photos in Photostream cannot be deleted but only hidden
- in iPhoto on iOS: you can modify or hide photos but it will not make any modification on Photostream
- in iPhoto on OSX: you cannot delete Photos in Photostream but modify them only in Library view, modifications in Library view will not inserted into Photostream
Apple, are you totally crazy???

Of course it's going to work that way. They are 2 separate copies of your image. If you deleted a photo in a folder on your hard drive, would you expect the OS to delete a copy that you had made somewhere else?

You can delete photos in Photostream in iPhoto. Just go to Photostream, right click on the image and select delete.
Photostream should be regarded at as a holding tank for photos ready for you to save them to a more permanent location.

Mar 8, 2012 4:05 AM in response to igmackenzieby klu,Hi igmackenzie,
My mistake, of course you can delete photos in the iPhoto Photostream on OSX (but you cannot in the iPhoto Photostream on iOS where you can only hide them).
And of course, if a device makes an automated copy of any photo (in Photostream) I shoot, I would expect it to delete that copy if I delete the original photo that I have decided not to keep. Otherwise I have to delete everything twice.

Mar 8, 2012 5:30 AM in response to lucasc5by ardfromwinsum,Older photos in photostream will be deleted (or hidden?) on the one (deleting) device only. New photos made after the ios 5.1 upgrade will be deleted (or hidden?) on all devices.
Although... this works for me on the iPhone and iPad, but not within iPhoto on my iMac and MacBook Pro. The "new" photo which I deleted on one of my ios devices were deleted (or hidden?) on all ios devices, but were not deleted on the iMac and also not deleted on the MBP. So I cannot conclude whether these deleted photos are still in the cloud or not. They are still visible within photostream (iPhoto iMac and MBP).
Any ideas?

Mar 8, 2012 9:25 AM in response to ardfromwinsumby SingingFriar,After upgrading to iPhoto 9.2.2, I was able to delete a new photo (taken since installing 5.1) from my iPhone photostream and it deleted automatically from my iPhoto. Likewise, deleting a new photo from my iPhoto photostream removed it from my iPhone. It appears just to not work on pre 5.1 photos, which is odd. Be sure to update your iPhoto and hopefully Apple will update Aperture very soon.

Mar 8, 2012 7:35 PM in response to Malhby pclark1987,An easy way to remedy the old photos not syncing deletion throughout the entire photo stream is to RESET THE PHOTO STREAM. I capitalize it so people will see this important fact. Once you reset it (back it up on iPhoto on the Mac beforehand...then just drag the entire previous photo streams that you just had on there...), put all the photos back on and then when you delete one off one device, it will now sync through all your i-devices! Like this to let me know it's worked for everyone. Works for me!

Mar 9, 2012 1:07 AM in response to pclark1987by ardfromwinsum,Works for me too in combination with the upgrade to iPhoto 9.2.2. on the Mac which was offered me this morning by "software-update". I checked yesterday for any upgrades and there weren't any. So yesterday I had the problem of non deleted photos in photo-stream on the Mac. This has been solved now too by 9.2.2. So the conclusion is that it works fine and Apple did a good job.
By the way: I think someone should apologize for his noncontributing behaviour on this forum (Chap).

Lose the attitude and just answer the questions. People need help, not condescending replies from know-it-alls like you.
I'm an experienced Mac user (since '92), and it still took me several tries to figure out how to delete photos from Photo Stream.

Mar 12, 2012 8:14 PM in response to lucasc5by LoveGS,I have the updated the software on my iPhone 4S and my iPads. My software is updated on my Apple TV. I deleted successfully some photos on all devises except for the Apple TV, including the computer from which I have home sharing, yet they are still showing up on AppleTV. How do I get the photos off Photostream on AppleTV?

Mar 13, 2012 5:52 AM in response to lucasc5by mabelt, after having updated iPhoto to 9.2.2. (iPhone of course to 5.1), appleTV to 5.0 AND having disconnected ALL devices from Photstream and reconnected again, deleted ALL the existing photos, now for the new photos the sync between devices works nice and smoothly. I can delete a photo form AppleTV, or from PC, or from iPhone, and see it disappearing form the other devices.
So I think it works fine but you have to get rid of what was done before these new upgrades (at least this was the case for me)

Mar 13, 2012 9:01 AM in response to mabeltby LoveGS,But I am updated on my AppleTV but when I select the photo I don't get an option to delete it. It is deleted across all other devices. BTW I am a PC user.

Mar 13, 2012 9:38 AM in response to lucasc5by mabelt,I realize I have not been precise.
I can delete single photos in photostream through the iPhone interface and through the iPhoto interface (I have a mac)
Doing that, the photo disappears from all other devices, including AppleTV (and this was not the case before the upgrades and the full reset of photostream)
I don't have (or I haven't found) a delete function in the AppleTV.
I have also a PC but I don't know if it can access photostream with it. I don't use it for that.
I hope it is clear - from my point of view this level of functionality is satisfactory.
