Or just really pessimistic. Why not cheer up and wait to worry until something goes wrong?

there not detaching they just seem like the are a little easy to lift off. The lady at the genius bar did tell me that they are easy to come off. Soo..

Soo...don't lift them unless you want them to come off. Is this complicated? Do you have some compulsion to pull on your keycaps?

You should think about protective eyeware, just in case you're in range of the next popoff

??? I'm pretty sure that the key caps won't even make it a millimeter into the air.

Well, you're starting to get through to me now. Here I've been using Macs and only Macs since the week after the first ones were released 28 years ago and never had a single keycap pop off, and like a fool I've assumed that meant it was unlikely ever to happen. Thanks to you, I understand now that I should be really worried -- heck, after all this time the keys on all four of my keyboards are likely to pop off all at once, like a Chiclet volcano! I can almost hear them conspiring now. Thanks for putting me wise to this before it's too late. I'm off now to cover my keyboards with Gorilla Tape!

    "... Chiclet volcano ..."

    I needed that today!

Same thing here! After only a couple of weeks using my MBP13' I noticed the P key was slightly crooked but I managed to place it back carefully and decided that was not an issue. To my surprise it came off again and again intermitently. I could still use the keyboard normally but then decided to contact Apple Care to resolve the issue as it is under warranty.

When I took it to the service provider I learned they wanted to charge me $ 250,00!!! and that it was due to external factors, meaning it was my fault! and they would not repair it under warranty!

Again I tried to contact Apple Care but got the same position.

I think it is humiliating for lack of a better word to pay through the nose for such a computer and have no support regarding an issue which clearly comes from the fact that the keyboard are extremly poorly made. Mind you, this is my second MBP and the first one never ever gave me an headaches as the current one 2011 model.

I am being forced to resort to the local consumer protection league and will respect their and only their final decision.

I am having the same problem.  A few keys keep popping off after just a few months with a new 15" MBP.  Maybe they had a bad batch of keyboards or something.  I've never had a problem with any other laptop, so I doubt it is my typing style.

I'm definitely having this problem w/ my MacBook Pro, too. After mentioning it on Facebook I learned of many websites where you can buy the replacement keys and watch tutorials on replacing keys. I'm a writer, so perhaps I use my computer more than some other people do, but I am still very careful with it, keep it clean, keep it in a case, etc. Currently, my 'E' key is broken and the R is coming off. I've been using Macs since the early 90's and I also had this problem w/ my G4, but only after I had the G4 for 10+ years. The 'C' key and one of the 'Command' keys stopped working on th G4, so I had to replace that keyboard.

Was going to bring the MacBook to the Genius Bar, but after reading this thread on the charges, think I'm going to try fixing it myself.
