Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:
iTunes 10.5 for Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store

Thanks for the info.
I did as you advised but nothing has changed unfortunately.
I have also now found out the my personal contacts in Outlook that were converted into iCloud contacts
are also inaccessable and have apparently vanished.
I don't know if the two are linked or if I'm just getting paranoid or stupid or both. It's bloody annoying though.

Worked for me. Problem was driving me nuts! I was about to wipe "reload all original software" - which tell you how desperate I was! BTW, what does "netsh winsock reset" do !!!!

Fixed my 'internet connection' problems as well, as they related to the Itunes Store. Thank you very much!

Finally got it sorted.
It turns out that my 'AVG Family' software that I installed to stop my kids seeing all the nasties in cyberspace, has a known conflict with iTunes. Even though I had disabled it and then uninstalled it the problem persisted.
Combined info form Apple and AVG sorted the problem.
I also got an update for iCloud that fixed the 'known problems' with iCloud compatibility with Windows.
All in all I am now a happy chap.

Finally something that worked! I had removed iTunes from my computer because it just didn't work. But I have several iPods. Redowned iTunes this morning and it still didn't work. I was this close from never using iTunes again and selling my iPods. Thanks for a working fix!

Tried every other solution posted and yours was the only one that worked. Only wished I found it first. It would have saved me 3 hours.
