The last few days whenever I send a text using iMessage, 80% of the time it flags that the message was "not delivered". The person on the other end does however receive it and states they are having the same issue on their end when they try to send an iMessage. I have discussed this same issue with 6 other iOS users and we all even experience it on our other devices (iPad, Mac, iPod Touch).

What's going on? Are there possible issues with iMessage server? I understand Messages BETA means it could be buggyand is in the works, but this is mainly effecting me on my Phone. While it does still do it from the Mac, I could care less about that. I just won't use the App.

Anyone stumble across a fix for this?

what it's telling you is that it's not sending the message to one of your accounts.

what I think you are doing is having two separate email accounts for your imessages account on your phone and iMessages on Messages on OSX. so you have a gmail account for your iphone settings but you have a me.com account for your osx settings.

What you should do is make it one account (make it your me.com account) and make sure your iOS devices and your OSX devices that support imessages uses one email account. Also make sure facetime on all your devices is tied to this same account).

because you don't have the same account on all your devices right now, then what is happening is one message is being sent to one device but doesn't reach or sync to your other device. giving you an error but still sending the message along to the recipient.

If you already have the same email account tied to all your devices, make sure there is only ONE email account that you have set for it to receive to.

I hope this was useful information. In either case I was experiencing what you were experiencing until I did all the above and now it works without a hitch.

    HI,

In Messages on the Mac I can send an iMessage and I get the sounds that it is sent but it never appears in the Chat.

I have had this happen several times

On one occasion I was sending pic to my son.

When I checked my Phone it had synced the  first IM (I resent the Pic and he got it twice as well).

I have also had the red exclamation mark next to some IMs which would seem to indicate they have not been sent (and they offer the Send Again option).  However these appear ot be synced on my Phone as well.

I do in fact only have the one Apple ID is use with the iMessages side of Messages and the same one listed on the Phone.

As Syncing to Messages if the computer has been off for a few days is not instant and is like a chat replay (and larger IMS or those with extras are delayed) it would seem it is the Messages server that has the issue.

Ran into the same problem... The solution was signing out of my iMessage account on the Messages Beta app for Mac. Seems to be a problem with that software and syncing with iOS devices. Loging back in does not solve the problem either, it's something persistent for now. Alas, it's beta software.

i have only one account for imessage and still have the same problem like mastemo!

i guess its just a typical beta problem which will be solved soon! in the meantime u dont really have to

uninstall the imessage beta, just go into preferences of the imessage beta and disable the imessage account

    for the time being!

    NOte.

Item 9 is WRONG about how to delete/Uninstall the Beta  (Use the Beta Messages Menu > Uninstall Messages (and this will restore iChat for you)

Item 7 is the most likely to be successful thing.

Syncing to Messages beta needs the Caller ID to be the Apple ID (item 3)

Item 10 is too extreme for something on the Mac not working as one would wish/expect.

The rest do seem like sensible checks.

    Thanks...

yeah forgot about the uninstall link.

I sync all of my devices using an email that isn't my AppleID.  I'll update the page with this info though.

For me, restarting iMessages on ipads, iphone, ipod, and mac fixed it.

    Hi,

I would say that trying to sync to an NON Apple ID is one of the hardest things to do.

Messages Beta will not let you Set up Messages unless you have a Verifiable Apple ID  (if it is really old it may not even be an Email ID you used)

Apple Listed emails (i.e. those that are Apple IDs) tend to have to be Verified (And Email sent to that address and you respond).

If it is not Messages will not proceed.

Thats probably what it is.  It's not my primary appleID, but it has been verified.

    Hi,

    Mine is and isn't.

My Main Apple ID is based on a dial up account I have/had that I am trying to stop using.  (I can download emails just not send).

My iCloud name is linked to this and in Messages I use the iCloud one.

you mean, after you restarted all your mac devices, the iMessages worked properly without the "not delivered" problem? or did you just restart the iMessage apps on all? for me both didnt work yet! but its interesting to know that someone was successfull with it!

I found it hard to believe but updating my Apple ID password to the new standard (requiring at least one capital letter) seems to have resolved the issue for me.  Not sure if it's the password or some side effect of changing it, but I'm fixed.  I tried everything before (logging out of devices, rebooting, logging out of Messages on Mac, turning Messages on and off, trying one device at a time, etc)... but this password change seems to have done the trick.

All my accounts were entered correctly on my various devices. What fixed it for me was to go into Messages preferences on my Mac, briefly disable the iMessage account, then re-enable it. Message for Mac must have been in a funky state.
